Daily Telecrap at their lowest - Rugby league is not a sport, it's an atrocity

I sent carsguide an email saying that I will not be selling my car there nor will I ever look for a car on their website again due to the article.

1 email may not achieve anything but I encourage all of you to send a similar email to them.
What is the Email address .

You can tell it was all ready to go because of point 6. If it was written and edited yesterday they'd have altered it because it just sounds weird in light of the current test.

Yep, the DT is a gossip mongering, manipulating dish rag and is best ignored. The problem is, what's the alternative?

I can find the article on the site anymore!

Perhaps it created more of a storm than they had hoped.

Obvious that this Peter Potwhatever is just a stooge to sell papers. Watch him get a big promotion in the next couple of months.

Pretty lame response from the DT, with plenty of subtle digs at the game in that lot as well.

Although I did like no. 40.

40 WAYNE Bennett press conferences. For letting us know how Moses must’ve felt receiving those two tablets from atop the mount.

14 pages of much ado about nothing. It was a tongue in cheek piece of creative writing designed to entertain and provoke discussion. Watching this massive reaction is what I imagine it would be like to watch a fundamentalist islaamic cleric read The Illustrated Version of The Satanic Verses.

How true, great piece, maybe those fools on LU will finally realise that the game isn't all they make it out to be.

Karl, the original article written by a car enthusiast (aka a journalist) was far more than "a tongue in cheek" article. It was a deadset ugly arrogant piece of writing.
And any reaction from league lovers is branded "irrational or boganish", by new comers like you and fellow AFL/Rugby Yawnion/Soccer fans.

I like many sports and many footy codes and love a laugh, but that article was pathetic.

If you want to talk of bogan comments, take a look at the latest comments on this issue on bigfooty. It is obvious the vast majority of them do not understand Rugby League and certainly not the cultures of NSW & Queensland, let alone Western Sydney, where they think they have already won the war.

I know that rag has to increase readership, but does it need to stick the boot in RL in order to do so. It does them no favours in the long run.

@TravisRoberts92 Agree totally. I think he's a cars guide writer, so he's probably got reason to hate the world

3 years?

Maybe I am the optimistic one! :D

I see the DT are running a follow up to their "We stirred up shit because rather than investigate the news we'd rather just make it up" article with their premanufactured "response" -

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/reasons-why-we-love-league/story-e6frexnr-1226237771291

Absolutely pathetic.

So this is proof they went out of their way to bash rugby league. Just to get some more mileage out of it the very next day.

Will we see the Herald Sun in Melbourne do this to AFL? No...

NSWRU WW1 "suspended competition" - that doesn't = stopped playing!Sydney 1st grade played on, but no table & finals i.e. no "competition".

Oh my. Sydney RU in WW1. SMH 30Aug1915 "Eight of the RU clubs closed season on Saturday with a knockout competition at the Sports Ground."

SMH 7Aug1915: "To-days Fixtures. Rugby Union. Univ v Easts; Balmain v Manly; Glebe v Nth Sydney; Mosman v Newtown; St George v Randwick ."

Oh dear. BrisbaneCourier 9Sept1915: "The RU premiership final will be played on Sat at Brisb Cricket Grd when Valleys meet Christian Bros".

WW1 history lesson article gave was the problem. It detracts the RU men who all volunteered 6 months b4 1915 footy season.

Think about it Mr Pottinger. RU went pro 1995. Even if was no RL or WW1, amateur RU would've lost NSW/QLD in 1920s to Aust rules or soccer.

Due to low crowds 1920 the QRU fell into debt. QRL held fundraising matches & gave all $ to QRU who paid off its debts. QRU still disbanded.

Sports played thru WW1? VFL, cricket, RU in NZ, USA baseball, gridiron, Canadian ice hockey, boxing. Soccer & RL in UK til war took toll.

If RL only toppled RU in Aust due to WW1 (Aug 1914), how come Wallabies-AllBlacks Test Sydney July 1914 drew 10K fans, yet in 1907 was 50K?

Thats awesome Sean, really really good stuff.

For new forum poster Karl (Paul Pottinger?) to say it was only satirical, is rubbish.

To mention the War was nothing short of a nasty little jab, and an attempt to show that his sport of Union was all high and mighty

That rebuff by Sean is quality

English Football continued during the second world war but was suspended during the first due to requiring as many working class men as possible to run into bullets.

It wasn't done out of patriotic duty, it was done because the Rugby Union loving Generals were so inept and kept getting so many men killed.
