Cowboys release DB and sign LB

The Cowboys have brought up LB Orie Lemon from the practise squad and waived DB Mario Butler.

If Butler clears waivers he will be signed to the practise squad.

Lemon was moved to the 53 men roster because of his special teams skills. Which was an area of the game the Cowboys were let down in last week against Seattle.

Butlers release does create a problem for the Cowboys though. Because of injury the team is light on at DB, especially at the safety.

Butler has been added to the practise squad.

Following the injury to regular punter Chris Jones, Dallas have signed former Bills punter Brian Moorman.

Jones has a sprained knee.

Moorman who is 36 has been with the Bills since 2001. He has a career average of 43.9 and a long of 84 yards,

Our worst showing for sometime. No one from the owner, coach, players or fans will be happy. But we have the bye and no doubt a lot of effort will be put in during the next two weeks. Hopefully the problems, especially with the offence will be worked out.

While many want to complain about Romo and that's understandable he didn't play well and threw five intercepts. Not all the ints can be blamed on him. Obviously their is a problem with Bryant. But even on occasions Austin and Ogletree didn't seem to be on the same page with Romo. Witten was the only standout.

It doesn't help the passing game when the running game does nothing. Murray is a decent runner, but with this OL he just can't find any holes to Ron through.

The defense is struggling with injuries. Ratliff, Coleman, Spencer and Church, all starters were missing tonight. Yet I thought the def stood up well tonight.

The problem with the offense, be it running or passing begins and finishes with the OL. Until we sort those five positions out we will struggle to score points.

Take the 14 points the Bears scored from turnovers out of the game and the score is much closer. But regardless of what spin I and other Cowboys fans want o put on it, it was a loss and a loss is a loss.

We shouldn't forget how we'll the Bears played tonight. They deserve a lot of praise for the effort.

Cowboys release LeQuan Lewis

Dallas have released cornerback LeQuan Lewis.

This leaves the teams roster at 52, with a position open. The big question is what position will be filled.

Irving, Texas – With only one practice in this bye week, the Cowboys appear to have received some good news.
-Jay Ratliff (ankle) and Kenyon Coleman (knee) were both in jerseys practicing with the rest of the defensive line. The practice did not feature full pads or full contact, but Ratliff and Coleman’s participation alone is more than the Cowboys have seen from him since the start of the season.
-Rookie safety Matt Johnson was in practice with a helmet, but no shells. Johnson’s latest injury problems have been to his back. Along with a prior hamstring injury Johnson missed almost the entirety of training camp.
With Barry Church’s injury leaving the Cowboys thin at safety Jason Garrett talked about the possibility of throwing the fourth-round pick into the fire when he is 100 percent healthy.
“I don’t think there’s hesitancy,” Garrett said. “We just have to see where he is. He hasn’t practiced a lot for us. We want to make sure he’s healthy and getting acclimated. I think there are different roles that he can step into, special teams guy then work his way up to a role on defense. More than anything we just have to see what his health is like and how he practices and make the necessary decisions from there.”
-Phil Costa attended practice with a helmet. Costa has yet to play since the start of the season due to back issues. Ryan Cook has filled in as the role of starting center in his absence.
-Linebacker Anthony Spencer attended practice with helmet in hand, but did not have a jersey on and looked to not be participating. Spencer missed Monday night’s game with a strained pectoral.
Punter Chris Jones was not on the practice field working with the kicker and long snapper. Jones hurt his knee in the game against Tampa causing the Cowboys to sign veteran Brian Moorman. Moorman, who played exceptionally well against the Bears, was on the practice field punting.

Phil Costa likely to return this week against the Ravens

Costa played centre for the first three plays of this season. But has been out injured since. That is most likely about to change. He has taken most of the reps at practise this week.

Ryan Cook who replaced the injured Costa is also suffering an injury at the moment.
