Well Vatuvei outjumped Uata, and bounced him off like a dodgem twice to score three tries.

Uata played well but run down by Vatuvei on his way to the try line.

Points clearly to Vatuvei.

yup, the beast certainly won this round.

bit unfair to say Aku was run down though - he had to swerve twice to lose the fullback and other chasers (which he did), which meant he slowed enough for beast to get him.

No. Uate has been way better across the whole season.
Just because the Warriors one-upped the Knights doesn't mean sh*t, or by that logic you all would be saying Jarryd Hayne is a better fullback than Billy Slater after Jarryd blew Slater out of the park in Round 13.
Uate is easily the best winger this year, Manu has been too quiet for the majority of the season. Uate has been far better in a team that has been playing inconsistently crap.

You Aussies are claiming Aku and will probably give him the gong...but Manu IMO deserves it more.

Uate has scored some quite breathtaking tries in 2010, but it's for a team that's seemingly going nowhere. Just as Vatuvei haters will say he's got bad hands and a slow turner, Aku has his limitations. I would even contend that Manu has seldom had a poor game since that shocker at Parramatta 3 years ago.

Manu contributes so much to a Warriors team that would be like a deer in the headlights if it didn't have him on the wing as an attacking option. No coincidence then that the Warriors have won 11 of 15 (73% winning rate) this year in games where Manu has started, and just 1 from 6 (17%) when he has not.

Uate is a fantastic attacking weapon and I love watching him play but his line defence can be poor at times. It will be a close call between the 2 and Uate may just get there as Manu has missed a few games this year and played a few injured. Fully fit Manu is better than any other winger in the NRL by a country mile.

Aku or Vatuvei would both be deserving winners of this. They're both awesome wingers who chew up so many metres for their sides. Aku provides more individual brilliance with his clean breaks from anywhere. I've never seen a winger score so many tries from dummy half. I would consider Manu to be safer though, definetely better under the high ball and less error prone.

Manu is put in far better attacking positions by his team. Look at today as an example. The three tries he scored were all from close range, where someone of his size will score nearly every time. Aku made his mark on the game when nothing was doing, breaking straight through the middle of a set defence. I can't help but think Aku would be miles ahead in the tryscoring if given similar opportunities as Manu. With this being only his second full season, I think Uate will prove to be a class above Vatuvei and all the other NRL wingers over the next few years.

Personally this game should of decided who should win this award
Manu had it all over Uate today in all aspects (Attack, Defence, Power and Aerial Plays)

yeah, decide a season intended for the year's best winger on 1 game

IMO Manu is the best winger in the world. Better than Uate. But being sidelined with injury and playing with injury has hampered his chances of winning the Dally M.

If the Dally M's were on tonight, I would be happy to see it go to Manu, but would have no complaints if it went to Uate

I'm not gonna let you off for this one, pure and simple Manu is the overall better Winger. Yeah Uate might win this award for his stellar season and being the leading try scorer, but theres more to being the best winger than scoring the most tries. Unfortunatley Manu wont get his recognition because of everyones premature ejaculation thrill Uate gave them earlier this season. MANU GREATER THAN UATE (atm - because i beleive uate will get his chance to shine too)

Aku's shredded opposition defences with slim to no go forward provided by his forward pack. He's leading the stats for wingers in just about everything. I really can't see anything that would make Manu a better candidate than Akuila, even without my red and blue glasses on.

And there you have it. The award is not who the better player is, the award is who has had the better season. Aku Uate has. For a start, Manu missed 6-7 weeks mid-season. Uate has not. He would have been accruing a lot of points in that period.

Uate is destroying Manu in the stats to such an extent I think he has to get the award. He has twice as many tackle breaks and line breaks.

Manu has actually had an odd season to an extent- a lot of the time he has been playing slightly injured and seems to have been about 2 yards short of top pace most of the season. The clean line breaks of previous seasons haven't really been there. Even yesterday, Uate made a break the likes of which I don't think Manu has made all season.

The flip-side of that is that Manu has been absolutely uncanny with his finishing this season. It's perverse that he's still known for the occasional flub, because his ability to turn half chances in to routine looking tries is freaky. The two tries he scored on the end of backline movements yesterday are underestimated. He had no business scoring either of those tries. In all honesty, they were two pretty routine backline moves by the Warriors that didn't create much space.

However, in general play Uate has been substantially more productive.

Uate

IMO Kiwis have 3 of the top 5

Its a shame that Perrett and Nighty while they compete for the same right wing position in the National side and are very similar players

they never actually mark each other

Perrett is our best option at fullback IMO

It's also heavily dependent on the team you play in. A good player playing in a poor side generally accrues more points because there is less competition in the side for points. A good player in a well balanced side may be a better player but if there are 5 or 6 players who consistently get dally m points, they may still score lower.

The whole thing is a fundamentally flawed system. It should be a weighted rating system for every player, EVERY game.
