Daniel Mortimer dropped from Parramatta Eels side for second match running - AND OMG

Well if Mortimer had stopped acting like he was a superstar then there would not be all the hoopla that surrounds his demotion. He gets the attention he asks 4
It's funny you should say that because while Morts does indeed appear in the media quite frequently, to me he's never come across as 'acting like a superstar.' I don't remember Morts ever showing any hint of pretentiousness, and he seems like a pretty down-to-earth guy to me.

I was under the impression that when he re-signed with the Eels, part of that deal involved some media work. If that's the case then being the face of Parramatta and being the go-to man for the print media is probably just part of his contractual obligation.

If Morts ever does re-sign with Parra, and to be honest I hope he does, then perhaps he'll drop the media appearances and focus more on his footy.

I think he's worth some perseverance.

he might be a lovely guy but he has shown notrhing to say he is gonna be a good footballer. his first season was a fluke & since then we have seen the real talent that he is.

he has had 50 games & is getting worse. he is not worth resigning unless somehow he transforms into something special.

I think he's worth some perseverance.

It's make or break time for Morts. If he cannot crack it by the end of this year chances are he never will. You can only persevere so long because football careers are very short. So if after 3 seasons in first grade (4 by the end of next year) and he still shows no real signs of improvement, or is showing only minor improvement then he's simply not worth persevering with.

If the current halves pairing play decent for the rest of the year then it might well be THE END for Morts.

LOL, yeah, I know. I could well be the only Parra supporter left who thinks that.

I reckon he'll be a good first grader by age 24. That is, if he stays in the game.

Once upon a time it wasn't so hard to play part-time in reserve grade, because the first graders weren't earning that much more than you and most of them had jobs too.

But these days blokes get discouraged when they're juggling a job and football while the first graders can sleep in every day and still buy another house every other year. It's easier to just focus on the day job and let footy slip - that's why there's so few good halves coming through into first grade.

But Morts has already won a (fairly) fat paycheck and he seems smart enough to have listened to the people who told him to invest it. He can probably afford to sign his next contract on minimum wage and keep plugging away as a fulltime footballer in one of the second tier comps.

He'll be a good player one day - he's only 21 - he just needs to get smarter, because he's never going to win with speed or brute strength.

He's got the skillset. He's set up tries with both his passing and his kicking. That shows he can do it.

Not really. If you put in 8 to 10 kicks a game, and pass the ball 20 times a game, then chances eventually some of those will lead to tries. The skillset is being able to do it consistently, ie. every match rather than every 5 where chances are you've fluked it.

Maybe PooPoo can post Mort's impressive try, line break and kick assist stats ?

I'm ashamed to say this, but Finchy is a better option to a team at 6 than Morts.

he's certainly worth percevering given that he's still only 22 but he definitely needs some time in reserve grade and maybe we should start tinkering with his positional play as maybe a benchy because he's never going to be an out and out half.
