Boyd is a bottle. Thin from the neck up. But I don't really have a problem with him treating a journo with this level of contempt.

The journo was piss poor with her questioning but how hard is it for Darius to say:
"No comment, I'm just trying to enjoy the origin win. No more questions please." And then ignore her if she keeps going.
The media are always going to be there and are a major reason why Darius is getting the amount of money he gets.
They question him the way they do because they know he will act like a tool and he delivers.

Journalists print responses to statements phrased as questions spoken by people who aren't famous because they have interesting things to say. The collective response from us should be massive indifference.

That reporter is a stupid mole. Hassling the guy in his own time. They didn't show all the lead up either. I'm sure she hounded him for ages, just badgering the poor merkin with her geniused questions.

She should throw herself off a cliff.

Not going to defend Darius, he's an imbecile.

But these media types are pathetic. What gives them the right to hound guys while they go about their business trying to get somewhere? And the questions they ask in these 'doorstops' I believe they call it are consistently shit.

All they're doing is hoping for a slip of the tongue and a headline, ala the mole that turned up to Bulldogs Mad Monday a couple of seasons back. Before anyone says it, I know it doesn't excuse the filth that came out of whoever's mouth that day, but they sent her as live bait - not as anything else.

Not sure if you're taking the piss or you're as brainless as dawius. The simple merkin needs to realise media work is part of the job. Though you can see why he rarely gets interview requests, he's got the personality of a dogshit sandwich.

What's so hard for Dawius to just say "no comment", it seems like he can't open his mouth without looking sulky

I'm backing Darius on this one, where do these reporters get off hounding people whilst they are leaving thier hotel?
Im all for the media work these players have to do but unless it is an NRL sanctioned media conference then Darius doesn't have to say shit, espicially if someone he doesn't know comes up off the street to talk to him.

Darius shouldn't of played into her hands, but if media work is part of his job, then that's fine. What that reporter did was not media work. She was hounding him with baiting questions in his own time, while he was trying to get somewhere. Nothing was asked about the great Origin win was it? Just bullshit about how sad he should be with Wayne Bennett leaving Newcastle.

If she was a real reporter, and it was real media work, he probably would have given her more time. She should have asked questions about the Origin game and what it meant to him. Equaling the Origin try scoring record, coming close to the biggest winning margin in Origin history, you know, reporting on actual positive things about the game. But no, instead she wants to harp on like some petulant child, asking questions with that tone in her voice like she's just sucked on eleventeen lemons.

But hey, I suppose at the end of the day, they got the desired effect didn't they? We're all talking about it and it made the news.

f**king pathetic really.

I dont have a problem with what Darius did. Sure, journos will say "this was a doorstep interview"...but the players are not the slaves of the journos 24x7.

LU forum is a funny place, they bag journos when it suits them! Saying how bad Beccy Wilson is, or Danny Weidler...but heaven forbid a pleb journo get nothing out of Darius

People on here loved how Teo stuck it to Danny Weidler...Teo was not "promoting the game" when he ripped in

I dont recall people up in arms when Hayne gave Steve Hart from fox sports news the short shrift with one -two word answers before origin 2.

Partly agree, given this mong never fronts up for media interviews at any stage during the year, yet was happy to take a bigger cut of the game's new broadcasting rights.

But the media believe they have 24/7 rights to the players, the ability to stop them on the street, to confront them when they leave their house etc.

Bullshit. Game days, practice, sponsors days etc - no issues. But if they don't want to speak on the way to the car the next day, or leaving their house, that's their right. Leave them the hell alone.

Methinks you're just taking the piss the same as I am, you've got no idea as to his IQ either, I guarantee that I would only be interviewed once if they didn't ask sensible questions concerning the game and not private matters . . . can't imagine you'd be dumb enough to practice what you preach Darius should do

You both make good points, but no way did darius have to respond like that. We get it, she's either very inexperienced/terrible at her job and it wasn't an ideal setting for an interview, but he just needed to give a simple 'no comment' or just say 'Now's not a great time for me, how about later in the week?'

He was a brilliant player for my team for a number of years, but f*ck me dead, he is an arrogant dickhead.

The bloke's been lucky enough to sit on the end of that rolls royce Qld backline for years, to the tune of what, 15 SOO tries now? Inglis should never have to buy a beer again whenever he's with Darius.

Can't argue with that.

What's he going to do after football? I cannot seriously for the life of me figure out what he can contribute to society.

Everyone trying to justify this latest Boyd drama are as geniused as he is. It wouldn't matter where the interview took place or who the interviewer was. He is a pathetic, immature little child. He's trying to imitate his sugar daddy and be all surly with the media and he just ends up looking like a sour faced little bitch.

For f*cks sake all he had to say was "I just want to enjoy the origin win for the moment thanks". Just behave like a grown man instead of a whiney little 5 year old. He's just a rude prick and has no clue about simple common courtesy.

As a previous poster pointed out, he refuses to take part in any media activities yet is no doubt more than happy to take more money as part of the broadcasting deal.
