Once again, we put on a wonderful team performance, with no single stand-out player. I know I couldn't think of an obvious choice on first watch. On second watch, I was able to narrow it down to Hornby, Saffy, Boyd, Nightingale, Smith, Soward, Young, Creagh, Fien... which kind of proves my point. If pushed, I'd nominate Nightingale.

It was indicative of the lack of superstar talent on show. After years of the likes of Slater, Inglis, Smith, Stewart, Hayne etc we have been spoilt, Dragons are a good team but no stand out individuals.

I would have given it to Hornby.

But also would have been happy with Smith, Young, Fein, Nightingale, Boyd or Creagh winning.

Its a bit of joke really, its like the award was given out before the game kicked off. Boyd played ok, but surely Jeremy Smith, Nathan Fien and Nightingale shouldve got a mention.

I hear this award is chosen by Australia selectors, so its funny how none of those mentioned (Kiwis) were chosen ahead of Boyd. :sarcasm:

This award is contentious nearly every season...........
2001.......Ben Kennedy should have got it, but it went to Johns
2002 ......Fittler should have got it but it went to Fitzgibbon
2004 ......Andrew Ryan should have got it but it went to Mason
2009 ......Cronk should have got it but it went to Slater
2010 ......Probably dean Young or Hornby or smith, but Darius got it.

Darius Boyd did do some great defensive plays in the Grand Final and if the Clive Churchill Medal was awarded for what he did in all games this year, well he deserved it. If it is just for a players performance in the GF. In my opinion the CCM, should of gone to Jason Nightingale.

Darius missed out on the Dally M hence the decision to award him the Clive Churchill. He wasn't the best player on ground, but it was a comprimise.
