The look on Smith's face, it would make a great meme.

GUESS DAVE SMITH's THOUGHTS

"I thought they said Australians were a healthy lot, this guy looks like someone just dug him up."

Slothfield deserves to be applauded. He is the greatest troll of all time. No one can be that stupid and still have a job at a newspaper. What an accomplishment.

Have to say that the overwhelming majority of readers' comments on his articles are quite satisfying.

Rothfield says the NRL needs to listen to their fans, yet if Rothfield actually listened to the comments on his own articles he would realise that they are basically all calling him out for his bullsh*t and demanding he resign

Look at twitter also, when he linked his article every comment is caning him.

Yet he claims "majority"

f**king scumbag.

How so??

Isnt this more the fault of the old admin though??
DSmith has been in place for only 2 years and, from where im sitting, everything is miles ahead of what we've ever had before.

But none of this changes the fact the he has still only had 2 years to do it so far.

Absolutely the changes are due to the new admin and from where I am sitting things are miles behind what we had.
The entire focus of the new regime is about marketing and making money at the expense of the normal person

The one to St George was well known, as was the one to Wests. Not sure where Rothfield has pulled that rubbish.

It's politis's whinge, I don't see how it affects any other club anyway, they are loans or advances, not hand outs, airing a clubs dirty laundry publicly does nothing productive. Clubs won't go to the NRL for help early and be open and honest about their circumstances if they don't trust the NRL to keep it in commercial confidence, instead they would go to banks and other sources and dig themselves into deeper problems until it's too late for the NRL to help. Politis cries poor and whinges that easts could use the money too, not sure he would agree to a loan if it meant giving up control of the board.

Politis' whinge?! Mate, Rothfield tips buckets on Politis and the Roosters all the time. Do you seriously think Nick Politis even talks to a merkin like Rothfield?

He wouldn't need to talk to him to know he has a problem with it, it has been reported before and was brought up at the last NRL chairman's meeting.

I will give you 2 examples, they have completely stuffed up the kids NRL cards that lets them attend games, I have players that recieve 5, players that receive none and the majority that do get them, don't get them until half way through the season. All in the name of collecting marketing information.

They are continually changing the process for registering kids, taking any control of the registration process away from the club and making it harder for their parents and harder for the clubs to administer their registrarions.
Again all in the name of collecting marketing information, nothing to do with getting kids to play the game.

The issues with the cards is nothing new. There has always been issues with them going back to when I was a kid.

Maybe but it certainly was not the NRL/ARL's fault in 2012 and prior.
Any issues that happened previously were due to the club getting the card to the players. And probably not the NSWRL's fault either.

Now its all outsourced to China thanks to the current regime.

Prior to 2013 the kids in our club and infact our junior area all got cards very early in the season. Now its an absolute farce and the reason it changed is simply so they can collect more marketing data.

Previous to this admin, the cards were simply numbeed and given junior clubs to distribute, which was done generally around the third round

They are now supposedly sent to the clubs with each players name on it, and last year , I don't think we received them all and none before the middle of the year

Thai issue of info gathering through sporting pulse , really adds to admin time for clubs and makes it more difficult to get regos done as many parents just give up, and the club has to go back in And do it, complete waste of time. Anyway, we Still seem to manage, but get little assistance from the NRL! Nearly everything they want has a cost which is borne by the clubs or prints, certainly no funding has come down to jumior footy from the TV deal. All spent on players and admin at the top level it seems.

I think that would have to be the biggest complaint, there has been very little activity in support of grass roots, jnrs and growing the game beyond the top tier. Here are some of the things I am aware this regime has achieved, it is a pretty meagre list when you consider they have had 2 years and a shed load of resources to play with:
Increased grants to NSW and Q'land cup teams (the top tier of grass roots) Qland v NSW end of season title game (top tier)
Development officers brought under central NRL management, not sure what positive outcomes this has had, maybe in quality?
Taken over WARL (not seen anything positive come of this)
Taken over NTRL (needed due to financial strife)
Link up with touch footy (still trying to see what direct benefits to RL this has brought)
A few new DO's (we got one in Northern WA)
New logos for each state body giving a consistent national branding
National insurance scheme for seriously injured players

Anything else people know of?
