"NEW corporate governance pressure on already successful clubs, telling long-time officials how to run their business"

So which of these Clubs are operating at a general surplus/profit from their footballing operations? Because there are not many.

Which Clubs are now generally viable from their footballing operations?

Brisbane, Souths? and ?

Clubs made to act professionally to receive $8mill grant year, oh the hardship! If they are unhappy they should come and spend some time in my charity and see the hoops we have to jump through for a few thousand!

Not that I believe it is true, whenever the old "unnamed sources"come out my BS radar goes off.

Time for this guy to be shunned from the game and the Telegraph be put on notice.

Panthers & Cowboys also made a profit

I'd think the raiders group made a profit. the Raiders football arm is run really badly but the corporate stuff they seem to do alright.

Manly was close to profit also. So clubs are getting better clubs in need WT, Newcastle should have boards appointed. Should be done on a needs basis not a blanket rule

Loving Slothfield's article today. Especially where he quoted the one guy who seemed to agree with him and said it was "typical of the view online". I know he's always been a complete d*ckhead but he's really lost the plot now.

makes you wonder about the survey... especially considering how he spun the gallen poll by claiming majority of people thought penalty was 'too harsh' when the two other options of 'too lenient' and 'just right' each had over 25%. He has no ethics and I don't believe a single word he writes.

Facing a rebellion, ? WQTF.
This code wont exist if Dave Smith and John Grant dont pull their fingers out over the next few years.
They are on the right track, they just need to gain greater support from our dopey media and club leaders.

I have just finished reading a story on a threat to every sport here in Australia. And other countries as well.
Look, you can laugh all you like, but if you think that 25- 30 billion dollars is not a threat to our code, then good on ya, go back to being braindead with ya head in the clouds.

Look, here is the threat, and i will also point out how Smith and Grant are combating and improving our position towards this threat. Other codes might not be as lucky.

NFL,,,, they recieve 10 billion dollars now, come 2027 they will be looking at turning that into 27 billion dollars.
So far they have used England as their tool for growth, (TV viewers), that is where the big money is going to come.
Rugby league also is a TV sport, and our international growth is all important here.

The NFL is looking now at growing Germany, Europe and Brazil. Those are massive markets to crack.
England was a huge market to crack, yet they have alot more fans and viewers eating up there product.
If they achieve this 27 billion a year, every single code in Australia will be under huge pressure to not only survive, but also lose core market space to them.
You can slowly see fans talking about NFL now. I have noticed a increase along with NFL now on Seven Mate.
All this and they are 17 billion off their target. wait till they can pump 1 billion into marketing a year. No code will stand a chance.

Look, Smith and Grant probably already know what lies ahead of our code.
Growing the pacific is the first step. We have huge pacific and Kiwi communities in Australia, so at the moment we have not only islanders and kiwis in our code reaching 40 percent, we also have a family base on our home soil.
That is massive. Imagine if Australia's union team was the All-Blacks. ? The fight would be over.
The reason why rugby league has the chance to be the major code of choice, ?
The Kangaroos, and we need to keep promoting internationals, the Kiwis are now a international brand that can stand alone.
Samoa is not far off as well, they are the new black.
We need to take ownership of the Pacific, and NZ.
Nobody sings out all-blacks, it is stupid, but KEEWEE'SS is the chant of choice.

Rugby league needs to promote the Nines, which is a fantastic sport and promotional tool for our code.
Again, Dave Smith and John Grant were the leaders again for this idea.
Next year they want to play a series of nines instead of the trail games.
So Nines will be played in Auckland, then Maybe Brisbane, and then the highest bidder for the third trail weekend. (melbourne Perth or even Adelaide)

This is how you grow our code.

Smith and Grant are visionary's.
Buzz is a dropkick, and the enemy. The sooner he moves to soccer the better.

i wonder how many times he did the survey

You just know for the question rating the performance that had like 4 options he will claim majority said 1-3 even if options rating above 5 collectively outnumber those bellow. Unless the full results are published, free of his skewed interpretation, it's as good as meaningless, and that's disregarding the fact that the same people answering it are those reading his relentless negative agenda-driven rubbish.

last week’s appointment of mother-of-six Suzanne Young

I keep seeing this written about her and I still wonder what the f**k it has to do with anything!
Are they arguing that someone who has 6 kids can't do her job properly?

I know we will have a lot of whingers saying we cant get rid of trail games. ???

You can, and if you think of growth and growing the game then geting rid of trail games and introducing the nines not only helps with injuries sustained in full trail matches, but it also then allows the NRL teams to take proper games to these country areas.
So Wagga gets a full NRL game, Toowoomba instead of a trail match gets a full-on NRL game, same as all the other areas.
That promotes growth a hell-of-a lot more than just a trail game.

We need to get smarter, grow the game, while expanding and promoting the game.

The yanks would have this baby humming by now, imagine if they were in charge and we had 10 billion behind our growth plans, increasing to 27 billion by 2027.

No.
Our code needs visionaries at this point in time. We have had the knumbnuts of Sydney trying to grow the code now for 100 years, we still have not left Sydney. Eddie mcguire, i just seen him laughing his tits off again. He hears Buzz open his mouth and thinks, beauty, no need to worry about league, buzz is doing a good job of killing the growth.

With a friend like buzz, i dont need worry about enemies or league.

The NFL takes a proper season game to England, not a trail game, the AFL takes proper season games to Cairns and Darwin, not trail games.

I know we do as well, but we could take a lot more games to country areas. Sharks verse Cows in Sydney is a game that should be taken to central Queensland.
