I agree he will be one of the best forwards in the game but only for the next 12 years not 13.
In the 13th year I can see him having an off year.
For that reason I'd pass, its a no from me.
We should only be looking for players that will be at the top of their game for 13 years not 12.

See this is my point.. 5 years ago Taumololo would have been seen as the most promising forward for the next 13 years, but alas along comes Fifita and suddenly Taumololo is tomorrow’s fish & chip wrapping..

I reckon in the next 5 years young Baulte from the Raiders will be the in form back rower of the comp..

I think Baulte will be the leading back rower of the comp too but not in the next 5 years, I think 6 years.

So over the next 13 years, no one else will come through?

I’m sure you probably said the same thing about Gallen early on..
I am sure many other good forwards will come through over the next 13 years, but Fifita will still be one of the best forwards in the game over the next 13 years, no matter who else comes along.

You said that you are sure that I said the same thing about Gallen early on. lol. Well you are wrong. lol. I was never a big Gallen fan. I actually thought he was over rated for many years. He had a very high work rate and is tough, but I never really rated him that highly. I didn't agree with him being picked for NSW for many years either. I even remember reading that we were chasing his signature very early on in his career and I didn't want us to sign him. Now David Fifita will be a much better player than Gallen.

Yes 5 years ago Taumaololo was considered the most promising forward in the game and now he is one of the best forwards in the game, some say the best and he will still be one of the best forwards in the game for the next 5 years or so, no matter who else comes along. As for Taumalolo being tomorrow's fish and chip wrapping. That is really twisting it. lol

ps. You are making yourself look stupid as usual. lol Keep it up. lol

I will also add

Sam Burgess is one of the best forwards in the game and he has been for the last 9 years. He will continue to be one of the best forwards in the game for the next 2 or 3 years.

I would go 800K a year for Fifita. That is massive money for an edge backrower. There are no other edge backrowers in the game that I would go 800K for. Fifita is that good he could play prop or lock too. Maybe he will develop into a lock over time? That could give him more freedom in attack, rather than being stuck on one side of the field, but the extra workload of playing in the middle may diminish his attack?

Fifita would be a good pickup however, unless we terminate De Belin's contract we won't have room under the cap. It would take both De Belin's and Graham's money to gain Fifita's signature.

I'm hoping Leilua and Ford will plug the De Belin gap next season and doubt very much that Frizell is on the move; he is contracted long term. I think we are good for backrowers but short a good prop and that is why I have said on other threads that RCG would be a nice fit for SGI.
How can and why would we terminate his contract..when he has not been found guilty yet..that opens up a legal can of worms for litigation against our club and wont be supported by the PA.
Wrong... we can make room under the cap.
You just stand him down from 2020 on full pay and apply for full dispensation under our cap if you apply to the NRL before you start paying him in 2020 (between Nov 1 and Nov 30).
But the club has got to come up with the extra 500-600K to spend on another player which is the problem.

They are talking 1 mill for Arrow. Klemmer is on over 1 mill a season. Fifita already playing origin. He will demand and get more than that to leave the Broncs without 3rd party's

I wouldn’t mind him either Frank , but he is the type of player that requires a hard task master something that we do not possess here at the Dragons . He appears to be having problems with his weight as well - beginning to balloon out somewhat.

Also he needs to keep his mind on the job for the entire time that he is on the field - not play in spits and spats .

By the way apparently the Eels also have their sights on R.C.Gillard whom apparently is about to sign on the dotted line with the Panthers chipping in 25% of his salary.

You may be correct. I think Brisbane will keep and will probably get him for 650K to 750K, or so they will report.

I don't think Arrow is worth anything near 1 mil a season and I wouldn't be paying Klemmer 1 mil a season either, but he may be worth that much to Newcastle who were crying out for a top quality prop to lead their forward pack.

That would mean Parra paying 600K a year for RCG. Is he worth that on current form? I don't think so.

I'm telling you Frank, just get the NRL video games and you can put Fifita in the Dragons team for the next 12, 13 or 14 years.

No - he is not . Unfortunately the man is simply not worth that sort of money on present form . However there have been numerous players whom have had a second lease on life when they change clubs , perhaps R.C.Gillard could fall into that category.

All correct..so what does that tell you about our club and what $$$ these sort of players are worth to secure their services and lure them over.
The Dragons have got to start over from the bottom up or top to bottom in regards to their football staff, then focus on reinventing or tinkering with the roster and recruitment for the umpteenth time to then have a place where people would be interested to play to compete in a finals type team without paying way overs...whilst the cap is in place in its current form. We have the location but....
There are only in my mind about 6-7 teams that offer this and we aint 1 of em.

No one will be signing with us until the JDB situation is sorted. We have between $500,000 to $650000 of our cap in limbo and that in itself is a large chunk of a big name player. The NRL have not shown any inclination to give us full dispensation and the Club is between a rock and a hard place because of his active contract. The NRL are happy for us to be in there as a potential litigation target for JDB if he gets off because it muddies the waters regarding damages payouts and their responsibility. A disgrace.

Because I am a very good judge of talent. Fifita is only 19 years old and played origin this year. Some say he is the best junior they have seen come through the ranks. He is big, strong and agile. He is only going to improve. I can confidently say that he will be one of the best forwards in the game over the next 13 years. If you like I will remind you from time to time over the next 13 years or so. He will most likely be the best second rower in the comp within 2 years time.
Just give one good reason why Fifita would move from Broncos to Dragons.
