A thread designated to the craziest day in football.

This seems like a big one especially for January.

Torres to Chelsea. Supposedly rumors are the spastic one is going back to Stamford bridge at seasons end. He's not fitting in at Real and wants to go back to the EPL. They say Ancellotti is having no say in the transfers.

As a Red, Torres can go walk alone. We need to buy a striker and some width. Hopefully if the new owners invest some extra cash we might be able to nab a decent LB. Also 30 million quid for Carroll you have to be kidding me. I hope we can buy fernando torres for under 30 million thats fernando lloriente torres.

Looks like spurs will have a big one as well with the used car salesman Harry at his best or is that worst

Tottenham getting rejected by everybody

not quiet everybody

Aguero re-signed with Bilbao last night but will be leaving in the summer, my guess is that his new contract had his buy out clause upped

Scousers have removed all promotional material with images of Torres

He re-signed 3 weeks ago before that it was never on.

35m for Carroll is the most absurd transfer I've ever seen after whatever Liverpool paid for El Hadji Diouf

The good thing about this is none of you f**kers can ever accuse City of overpaying for players or ruining football ever again.

your info on Aguero is not even close, he's nailed on to go to RM and once Jose said he wanted him, we eased off

yes we can

wages are ridiculous at Citeh
And every player at Tottenham plays for the love of the gaffer.

Who's 'Arry going to blame if he doesn't sign anyone? He can't launch into his usual routine of "Citeh blew us out the water"...

No doubting he's had a very good first half to the season, but how that somehow translates into £35 mill bid is amazing. Newcastle would be laughing atm.

Seems as though Torres to Chelsea for £50 million should go through, pending a medical.

Caroll's transfers been confirmed. Pretty much assures that Torres' should go through as well.

ANDY CARROLL JOINS LFC

Andy Carroll has tonight completed his transfer from Newcastle United to Liverpool FC and signed a 5 and a half-year-deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2016.

The Club agreed a record transfer fee with Newcastle earlier in the day for the transfer of the England international striker.

The deal was subject to the completion of a medical, which the player has now passed.

Andy Carroll will wear the No.9 shirt for Liverpool.

7 million quid for Hernandez is looking a right bargain right now, heck even the 30 million for Berba is starting to look like it was good value. Glad to see Chel$ki back to their success-buying best. They obviously got pissed at Citeh stealing all the funny money limelight.

Well it's official.

Chelsea sign £50m Torres

January 31, 2011
By ESPNsoccernet staff

Chelsea have completed the signing of Spain striker Fernando Torres from Liverpool in a deal reported to be worth £50 million.

Torres has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that puts his earnings on a par with the highest paid players at Stamford Bridge - such as captain John Terry and Frank Lampard.

Torres joined Liverpool following a £20 million move from Atletico Madrid in 2007 and set a new record for the most prolific foreign goalscorer ever in a debut season in England, beating Ruud van Nistelrooy's 23 goals for Manchester United.

The 26-year-old scored 65 goals during his three year stay at Anfield and although he helped Liverpool finish second in the Premier League in the 2008-09 season, the club missed out on qualification for the Champions League last term and Torres leaves having failed to win a trophy.

That is something he will be hoping to put right at Stamford Bridge as the reigning Premier League champions look to defend their title and go one better than Chelsea's Champions League final appearance in 2008.

Speaking at Stamford Bridge after finalising the move, Torres, who was also pictured with a Chelsea shirt, said: "I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new team-mates this season and for many years to come. Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to England, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team. I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season."

"This is a very significant day for Chelsea, capturing one of the best players in the world with his peak years ahead of him," Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said. "We have long admired the talents of a player who is a proven goalscorer in English football and Fernando's arrival is a sign of our continuing high ambitious. I hope every Chelsea fan is as excited as I am with this news."

Blues chief executive Ron Gourlay added: "Signing a player of the stature of Fernando Torres benefits the club on many levels. Carlo Ancelotti was keen to add his talents to the squad as we continue our quest for three trophies this season, we are delighted we have succeed with that wish, and this signing will undoubtedly aid the club in realising our worldwide potential."

Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed the loan signing of Coventry midfielder Conor Thomas, 17, with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the season.
