funnily enough, after the initial emotion has worn off, i have realised what a dickhead thread i have created - although i have enjoyed reading some of the conversation it has created. however, i think that could have been achieved with a more tasteful initial post.

like accusing people of being apologists when they've actually spent more time this year of being critical of the clubs management, administration, players and coaching staff than ever before???

like I said, I'm sure Gronk would of had a chuckle at your initial post and you would of known what i meant had you bothered to do some research first.

Yep Stagger is a niggler when it comes to the club. He's the opposite of an apologist in fact.

I try and keep him on the straight and narrow from time to time, when his passion gets ahead of him. ;-)

We need 4 changes made to our club before we can even consider being successful

Overton
Fitzy
Hagan
Cayless

These guys are way too accepting of mediocrity imo.

So Lets talk about Mediocrity.

What do we all see it as?

Do we see Mediocrity as
1) Finishing in the top 8
2) Making the Finals to week 2 (Effectively top 6)
3) Finishing in the Top 4
4) Making a Grand Final (Effectively top 2)
5) All of the above.

If you answer 4 or 5 then I would assume in your opinion the only thing that would elevate our club above mediocrity would be a Premiership Success?

FP, I think you need to know that Ovo has very little to do with the football side of things, he is there to ensure that the financial side of the business is on track. I might say, thank goodness with what is happening with the iniquitous pokie tax from our useless state government.

I am no apologist for Fitzy, but since BS was appointed coach he has also only been involved occasionally in contractual issues, ie with a high profile manager to try and close the deal. All football initiatives are run by the coach and the Football manager, Greg " Mr Invisible" Mitchell.

Whilst it is easy to get on the case of these guys, DF's main cause for complaint is that he searched out and recruited the coach and the Football Manager, perhaps the need is to reassert more control.

I don't doubt he was dissapointed. Big deal.

MITS, all those options you listed only relate to on-field success. There is much more to it than that. From marketing and promotion to entrepeneurialship to image to cashflow to profitablity to supporter comfort to merchandising etc etc etc.

I judge our club on all those things and of course premiership success. But we all have to accept the fact that apart from 6 years 81-86 we are the worst performed side in the NRL. The Sharks are closing in but they are certainly heading in the right direction. I don't for a minute doubt that Ovo's heart is in the right place, nor do I doubt he works his butt off but the buck stops with him. As it does with PHAC at Souths.

Delboy, if Ovo's responsibility is only finances, then what is being done to increase our revenue through increased crowd support and sponsorship. I am very concerned with the quality of our major sponsors compared to more well known brands at other clubs. And I mean absolutely no disrespect to Pirtek or any of our other sponsors.

So Tell me FP, what would you change in our Support Comfort stakes? Or our Merchandise?

We have seen increase Marketing and promotion, with our radio spots as highlighted recently, I am sure you will tell me that Parramatta Should be advertising on Television for New season ticket holders during the New years test, at least twice and hour but I don't think that is in our means.

if that's how you feel than you might want to add Steve Edge to that list of yours.

I am also wondering what sort of Quality issues you have with the issues. Is their money not as good as others? Or is it the Lack of ability to Cross Promote on more consumer Brands?

I think FP is saying it would be good to have a major sponsor that the average supporter can relate to.

Being associated with a strong brand sends a positive image out about the club.

With respect to Pirtek, nobody knows who they are.

So that is the interesting thing, I knew of Pirtek, I think 4 years before the became sponsors of the Eels. Maybe more through their support of V8Supercar Team Stone Brothers Racing. I had a next door neighbor at the time who was a mechanic who knew Pirtek through their business in Hose's and fittings and was ecstatic with the sponsorship of someone non motoring / Industrial.
