I take a different view and have no doubt he will be back. Is there an agenda to force him out of the club?

Of bigger concern is the coach. I don't want to use a three letter word which begins and ends with d but as we sink further into mediocrity questions need to be asked.

Fair enough. I dont think there is an agenda as such but I do think people are now expecting regular good performances from star pay players ie Farah, Blair & Marshall. Of those 3, only 1, Farah, can hold his hand out honestly for his star pay the last few years. Blair and Marshall have not performed well now for their star pay for at least the last season and a bit.

Edit- I do hope Marshall can turn it around for himself and the WT. But, I have begun to question his pay and his worth if things keep up.

I guess the question I have is why do so many players struggle to play inside Benji?

We have had many try and all have failed. I am not saying he does anything on purpose to cruel other players performance but does he give them a fair go? Does he want them to fail so he looks better? I don't know but something is definitely wrong, they can't all be total duds can they?

The definitely can. To me they should be judged based on their performances and Benji on his performances.

Benji has been great for us and I don't think he has been that bad this year but he hasn't been anywhere near the level we need him to be. Kicks out on the full, poor long passing and no running game to talk about is simply not acceptable.

I think Benji is struggling because he has to be a different player to what he was. He has to be a leader and a playmaker. Of course he has to run the ball but I don't think he will ever be as good at running the footy as when he was younger. He can do more - I think he has a really good kicking game and his short and long passing game is top quality. The problem is his defence has been atrocious and his game has been mistake ridden. He has always had these problems but now he isn't the runner of the footy that he was and he simply doesn't have enough upside to justify the poor plays.

I dont know if you can be too harsh about Potter just yet,salary cap,injuries inheriting the current squad entitle him to some breathing space or blame from our current position.I am also not going to bag a guy who is trying to install some accountability and discipline into his players as that was one of the main faults with Sheens.

This is my concern, he isn't a leader (he is too petulant) and he certainly isn't a play maker like Thurston, Cronk or Foran. I don't know where he fits now that the freakish streak has gone....

Any fair-minded person would keep in mind that Potter is still making a team with the ingredients that Sheens left him.
Also, you really need to give him a degree of time to make his mark.

Seeing that you seem keen to assess mediocrity . . . . How about you measure Benji's and Potter's performances since Potter took over ? ( the only time they have "performed" side by side )
Keeping in mind that one is amongst the highest paid footballers in the country, and the other is a stop-gap nondescript coach.
Which one has drastically under-performed ? . . . . ( has more than 3 letters and ends in i )

I didn't expect much from this season after a decade of Sheens.
I was under the impression he was here to rebuild and change our culture.
Give him 2 years and see who we pick up/let go in the off season. Interesting times behind the scenes I'm sure.

I think that it was the former "great" ;-) Balmain coach A Jones who once said words to the effect of, a new coach has to uncoach a team first before coaching them the way he wants them to play.

Allan Jones talks 90% rubbish,but on this one he is spot on.Getting the "sheenius syndrome" out of camp Concord is Potters biggest challenge.Some players can embrace change others will struggle and sometimes it takes a new breed of player to come through before the benefits of change can be achieved.

Potter is in a real hard place at present but I get the feeling if he gets the FULL backing from the board room and some patience is shown, he will eventually turn the place around, but in the process their will be casualties and egos dented

He took all the good coaching Warren Ryan had done out of the side and then coached them to be the rabble they inevitably became under his reign.

These are refreshing words to read.

Remains to be seen whether Potter will succeed as a first grade coach, but he has shown some fantastic qualities this week.

This is the exact attitude and leadership that is required from any first grade coach. It is long overdue and great to see. Kudos to him for having the balls to do it. I hope Marshall will respond.
