Bought a copy of the pioneers book a fair while ago, and would absolutely love the clubs history book but have never been able to find it.

Loved your work Sean and will continue to follow your work

Hadn't planned to re-issue that book as each club's history was available for free on the website. But the favourable mentions of it in this thread have surprised me, and maybe there's still value in an updated version.

I would buy it! I have given both the Pioneers book and the Dally M book to my dad as gifts and he loved them both. He wouldn't know how to even turn on a computer but is a huge rugby league history buff

Got my copy of "pioneers of rugby league" the other day; haven't been able to put it down since, and I'm a book snob.
Cheers Shaun :)

I'll be giving free talk "Blood & Bandages - a century of rugby league jerseys" Sun 3pm-4pm "League of Legends" at Hurstville Museum.

Blood & Bandages - a century of rugby league jerseys
Sunday 6 November 2011
3pm – 4pm
Free event, all welcome
Bookings essential
Tea and coffee provided
The phrase “blood and bandages” refers to the St George Dragon’s circa 1920s – 1940s heritage jersey. Join rugby league historian and author Sean Fagan for a talk on the evolution of rugby league jerseys from 1908 to the present day. Sean’s illustrated presentation will look at the development of jersey designs and styles with focus on the Sydney clubs, and draws on his extensive research into the history of the game in Australia. Sean will also look at the history and symbolism of the iconic St George Illawarra jersey.

Info on the Museum & League of Legends > http://lmg.hurstville.nsw.gov.au/WhatsOnDetail.aspx?PageID=34&ItemID=646

If you intend to go, please rsvp museumgallery@hurstville.nsw.gov.au or 9330 6444 so they can get an idea of numbers.

Will also have The Rugby Rebellion (aka Pioneers of Rugby League) http://RL1908.com/ to purchase if anyone keen to pick up a signed copy (cash or cheque only).

I'm spewing I'll be missing this RL1908. Love my jerseys, and I'm about 5 minutes from Hurstville.

Sadly have a prior engagement that day .. you going to be presenting anywhere else?

Hey Sean, you got any other books for sale?

I haven't got any more copies, but The Master is still available via sites such as http://www.fishpond.com.au/Books/Ma...7?cf=3&rid=1377230315&i=1&keywords=sean+fagan or order via your local book store [ISBN: 0733622003].

Thanks for the link to the Messenger book Sean. I am about halfway through Pioneers of Rugby League and it's very good reading. Just ordered the little master off fishpond so I'm looking forward to reading that as well. Keep up the great work.

PoRL reads like some sort of soap opera with twists and turns every page.
Fascinating how close Qld came to playing 'Victorian Rules'.

Love all that Sporting history like the first split leading to Soccer and then the 2nd split being the Rugby one but just find the Victorian Rules merging with Rugby League back in the day very interesting.

From Monday RL1908 will be posting messages each day about news & other happenings in RL, in real-time, as if this year was 1908 not 2012.

These will be posted on http://twitter.com/RL1908 & on Facebook via http://www.RL1908.com/facebook

The idea is that RL fans experience RL history in real-time, and (hopefully from our point of view) purchase our book on RL 1908-1910 via http://RL1908.com/

If it proves viable we are intending to do other seasons from RL history, and RL1908.com will be revived as the main portal to access each season etc.

This is an experiment that may be brilliant or may implode – I don’t know. But I hope you might give it a go, get involved in RL history & take a journey back in time.

Messages from 1908 will be posted on http://twitter.com/RL1908 & on Facebook http://www.RL1908.com/facebook

[My general RL history tweets will now be via http://twitter.com/tribe13_]

Great idea, Sean. Look forward to it.

I've been digging through old copies of the herald here http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?q= looking for interesting stories myself recently.

My old man enjoyed the Pioneers of RL book I ordered for Christmas too BTW he read it in 2 days. He's stolen my copy of The Master too.
