Did Jake Mamo deserve his punch?

Anyone who thinks being hit from behind is far game is a deadset f**kwit of the highest order, kind of says what kind of person you are. Yes Mamo was carrying on like a merkin but what coward McConnachie did was potentially life threatening, being hit from behind is the absolute most dangerous thing that can happen to someone, the way the skull is structured, the back part of the head is the most exposed and it's 10 times worse when you're not expecting it. I'm guessing you wankers probably think the bloke Packer belted deserved it too?

Just because Mamo is annoying it doesn't make what happened acceptable. It's f**king dangerous and a complete dog act whatever way you try and spin it.

Funny how Chris Walker thinks its funny.

How that trackhead ever played in the NRL is beyond me.

On the punch very cowardly.

Exactly aqua duck, your response answers the question perfectly.

I don't know what I am more annoyed at. The childish behaviour of Mamo, the cowards punch by McConnachie or the gutless stance by the NRL. On the street you get 18 months to 2 years for a cowards puch and say what you like, that is what it was but on the field you get nothing. NRL should grow some balls.

If that happened to Thurston in the grand final, I guarantee the perpetrator would've been suspended for atleast 10 weeks

That statement is a bit of a myth. The whole on the street thing is over hyped. Yes it was a dog act, however, most of the street coward punches, it isn't the punch that killed, it's hitting of the head on the concrete/gutter.

I have worked with people recovering from "coward" punches and the offenders are only harshly prosecuted if the victim is in a coma.

The suspension is very low, and I think the MRC have got a few things wrong, this being one of them.

I will say this though, Mamo did not deserve the Coward punch, but he brought that on himself. He carried on like a dickhead all game.
I would wager a bet that if it was any other Knights player, that doesn't happen. But you act like a f**k wit, you get targeted.

It is a bit like the egg and the chicken I suppose. Mamo doesn't carry on and he might not get targeted by a cowards punch. In saying that about the egg and chicken, the same applies to the punch, the NRL have said if you punch you get sent to the bin and that is two men face to face. I didn't see that happen.

If the NRL wanted to make a stance they could have used this example to the fullest. I think they missed a very good opportunity to stop this.

On your comment of people hitting their heads after the fall, yes that is correct, but no punch no fall. Stop the punch you stop the injuries.

laughable that Jets player wasn't sent off, given a decent suspension. Sure, Mamo's actions might be bad. Doesnt excuse belting someone from behind.

Considering the nickname of the guy that king hit him is "Madness" I wouldn't be so sure...

If it happened to Thurston in the Grand Final - the perp would be lucky to play a game next year. The only difference between this and Danny Williams is there were 3 blokes already holding Mamo.

Mind you, if it happened to JT in the GF, we'd have 10 different angles of every freckle on JT's body in HD to examine the incident.

Geez it's disgusting how many people in the first couple of pages thought this was ok. People think a king hit to the back of the head is deserved because he was acting like a bit of a wanker.

Depends who punched him. Someone like Parker or Thaiday would get a couple of weeks. A nuffy like Dodds or Wallace wouldn't play a game next year.

Probably the type of blokes who think its ok to belt someone with a baseball bat for looking at you the wrong way.....

Don't agree at all with king hitting .
He should have been sent off .
In saying that Mamo has issues ...
He will spend his career with a big target on himself he he doesn't stop his angry routine .

Dumb dumb footballer .

Can't be much happening football wise with the Knights, when a whole week has been spent discussing the merits of some reserve grade prawn who got a smack in the head. I would be more concerned by the fact that Gidley was voted your best.

I'm guessing you're probably someone who thinks oh who cares Kurt Drysdale is in a wheelchair since he was only a NYC scrub

Knights couldn't match the Jets football wise, tried to on put on a bit of stick and didn't like getting a bit back. Out played and you prawns have been bitching for a week. if Mamo is the best you have your in trouble.

You're either a complete dickhead or someone who doesn't realise how serious a king hit is. I'm guessing that it's the former.
