Did Lowrie make the right decision?

would all his supporters move to melbourne to be close to him incompetence.

Mate, the way Parra "supporters" treat their players - believe me, the thought has crossed my mind!

Right Decision - Poor Execution. Cannot fault the guy for having a go.
If i could be bothered im sure i could find half a dozen other plays by other players that would have resulted in a similar thread.
It wasn't our night - face the fact. One day soon it will be our night and you will want to dry hump every player on the field.

It wasn't Lowries fault, The halfs should have been there.

All said and done, we should have done more in the 1st half. That's were we lost it. We gave them too much respect, In the 2nd half we were killing them when we played our own game.

This is my analysis on Todd Lowries last tackle options in the Grand Final. It's not very good, but it's my views. Excuse the bad quality.

THE KICK OPTION: Todd Lowrie (circled in red) would kick the ball into the ingoal. He would have a Parramatta player (J Hayne) and a Melbourne Player (B Slater) being the lead competitors to the ball. This option, if done correctly, would have let to a try or a repeat set of six at best for the Eels. Hayne is a very good position and has momentum, wheres Slater is flat footed. They both have red lines (Hayne is circled in red too) coming out of their feet. This indicates the line they would run, and Lowrie (circled in red too) indicates where the ball would go if he kicked it perfectly. I BELEIVE this would lead to a Parra try under the sticks.
NOTE: Playmakers are circled in PURPLE (J Robson, D Mortimer, F Mateo)
NOTE: Play and lines in this option are indicated in red.

THE HANDS TO THE CORNER OPTION: Todd Lowrie (circled in red) would pass the boal to Parramatta player (F Mateo - circled in purple) who would then pass it to Hayne, who would pass it to Joel Redy (corner *NOT CIRCLED*). Reddy would then run the short maroon line to the corner. The Melbourne players would push up on Reddy (indicated by the maroon lines) and if Reddy could not make it to the corner, he would pass it to E Grothe (Not pictured) who would either score in the corner, get bundled into touch, or cut back in and score.
NOTE: Play and lines in this option are indicated in maroon.

THE PASS TO HAYNE ON THE BURST OPTION: Todd Lowrie (circled in red) would then pass it to Jarryd Hayne (circled in red) who would then run then run the grey line to the try line. The Melbourne players would then run the grey lines towards Hayne to try to tackle him. The unidentifiable Melbourne forwards may or may not get to Hayne who would score next to the posts if he scored.
NOTE: Play and lines in this option are indicated in Grey.

I hope this has cleared something up. As I said, i did this when I was bored, and quality is poor. Thanks.

This is all in the past now anyway. We have to consider what Shackleton would do in the same situation

In terms of the kick, Lowrie needed to either grubber more towards the "V6" than the posts - keeping it out of Hoffman's reach. That's probably the safe play, since the ball's probably equally likely to be nabbed by Slater as Hayne, but then there'd be a decent chance of tackling him in goal and securing a drop out.

Alternatively, he could have chipped instead of grubbered. This would have gotten over Hoffman's head. The question is would Lowrie have the skill level to do this anyway ... probably not and it could have easily gone dead, which would have been even worse than the result of Hoffman cleaning it up.

Putting it through the hands couldn't have resulted in a worse result than grubbering more or less to Hoffman. If they had gone for this, I'd have hoped that they would just go short to Hayne and hope that he could beat Hoffman one-on-one with footwork and strength before the cover got there.

I honestly believe the Storm would have had us covered with their sliding defence if we spread it, although you never know ... Reddy is strong near the line.

It's all academic now, though. Hahaha.

Going through the hands would've been the best option for mine unless it was Tim Smith who got the ball instead of Lowrie.

The urgency and offloads would've led to a try.

Hayne would've sucked in the 2 defenders and either Reddy or Grothe would've scored.

The kick was not on. Hoffman's body language said he was running towards the kick and the flat pass to Hayne was not a great play either. The pass to Mateo was the play.
