There is currently no Digicel Cup Franchise in Madang.
This is just reviving the local competition there which never resumed after it shut down for Covid back in 2020.
They used to have a six or eight team competition back then.

And back in the mid 90s they did have a Team called the Madang Globetrotters. Lasted about 2-3 years.
But I believe next year the new Franchise Morobe Kandes from Lae want to temporarily base themselves in Madang while their small home ground stadium is being built.

What’s the distance between Lae and madang?

Some key Hunters players are playing in the Digicel Exon Mobil Cup this weekend while they are on bye in the Hostplus Cup.

I personally don't agree with it because of the big risk of injury. Hope Paul Aiton knows what he's doing.

I guess it’s ok for the younger players and squad players giving them a runout and gametime but not the more established players.

Not too concerned about fringe players as they have been playing Digicel Cup since the season started.
But this weekend starting players like Gairo Voru (Pom Vipers), Murray Connors & Trevor Solu (Hela Wigmen), Sani Wabo & Zebedy Kip (Lae Tigers) all played when they should have been resting.
