I didn't go to the game due to the weather and I'm single bloke in my twenties. I didn't have pre bought tickets but I can understand why families who hold season tickets, or families with young kids who had pre bought tickets decided not to go to the game. No parent is going to risk taking their young children to a game in the pouring rain due to the fact they may get sick, and that's just common sense. That's not personal reasons it's COMMON SENSE. Others who may have to work on saturday would probably not put themselves through it either. I think it's very judgemental of you to just assume anyone who's a Parramatta fan should definately be there unless they have a decent excuse why.

Well said.

Nobody likes to see only 7000 people at a game but this was exceptional circumstances. We're not just talking about a rainy day here - this was Noah's Ark sh*t.

And I find it sort of amusing that all of these fly-by-nighters are coming on here and crapping on about how they made the effort. How long have guys been around? Five minutes? Pffft

Half of you wouldn't remember the days before Super League when we were a truly crap side. Where were you then?

I had my tickets (season) and had no excuses, I was home by 5.30pm, but cooked a up a feed and hit the beers on the couch.
Felt like a bit of a dickhead when watching the Tigers/Dogs game it wasn't raining out West, nad an even bigger dickhead after seeing what I was missing out on between ad breaks.
But seriously, if you come back and go on about how good you are for going, you come across as the jerkoff.

So you start slinging sh*t in return?? Well done Mr High and Mighty. You really are 'the bigger fan'.

Back in those days I had season tickets in the Stand, and rain never kept me away :)

Nice post.

Unfortunately, you, among other's get herded into a pig pen, castegated as being outcasts, and then branded with a hot iron with the word - "BANDWAGONER".
Shame on you!!!
I was extrememly disappointed with Friday night's crowd. In fact, I was embarressed as a Parra fan by the quoted figure.
But there is no way I'm going to sit here and cast dispersions on those who didn't turn up, all the while quoting how many other games I go to, or how I go and watch so many junior games. (which I don't)
Every Eels fan has a reason for going or not going.
As does any fan from any other club.
Fishy is completely correct. It's a lazy Sydney attitude. Nothing else.

Furthermore, I would just like to admit that I am a bandwagoner.
I can't be f**ked going to the Monday night Newcastle game. It's 2 hours drive, it might be raining, it finishes too late for my kids, I can't be f**ked driving that far, and Newcastle supporters play the banjo.

I am now a proud member of the Bandwagon Club. For those true supporters who make the trip from Sydney, try not to beat your chests too hard.
Seriously, Friday was a shocker weatherwise in Sydney. It was no surprise that the majority decided to stay at home.
f**king get over it.

Suity

should have played it in queensland , would of sold out lang park and both teams are out of town

What??? You mean to say there are more than 7500 people who would prefer a live spite night game of footy over rugging up at home??

Sydney is soft.

Trying to turn sh*t around on me now Guru? I'm not the one bringing all of this 'bigger fan' sh*t into it. You started that some time ago.

I tell you what though, even though we were useless, those were some great days. Some memorable games - beating the Dogs in 1995 when Woodsy went berserk. I remember thinking each week 'If David Woods plays, we're a chance'.

nah shouted at me , he is the worst heckler in the world and a terrible example of a vice president of a junior rugby league club , taking a slash in broad daylight behind a tree on the beer drinking hill.

Not really, I called you soft for not turning up when you had a seat undercover. That's just my opinion and I'm happy I went. Certainly didn't lack atmosphere. Sometimes I enjoy those games more than a packed stadium come July/August, because those surprise wins are great to witness. I'm sure you've been at many, if not the one on Friday night.

I really loved those games too, constantly being the underdogs. Beating Canberra 50-10 in 96 was one of my first great memories of watching footy at Parra Stadium.

I went, but i can understand why people didnt turn up, week leading to it and the day of the game it was awful weather, it only cleared up after 6 when most people would have made a decision not to go.

Someone wants to think they have seen more games then me and truly ge into a pissing contest, then I have no problem stating the facts of the matter, but it doesn't make me or them a better fan, simply that I have seen a large number of games and know my way around the game.

I've been to heaps more games than you.

I was at the game, and it's a game that I will never forget, but it's a bit harsh calling other fans soft because they didn't turn up, no one here knows why they didn't come, people could have other commitments. My brother in law was planning on going with his two little boys but decided in the end not to because of the conditions during the day, he could have went on his own but wanted to watch the game with his son's, does this make him soft?

For those 7500 fans that showed up are rewarded with one great game of footy they won't forget anytime soon, and for those that didn't lets hope they show up when we take on the ponies in a few weeks time.

And while we are on this topic the thing that sh*ts me to death are the so called "fans" that boo off the team at half/full time if they didn't put on a good performance IMO these are the "fans" that are disappointing and not true fans.

Well not really. As I said earlier I couldn't make it. It wasn't a decision I made.

Best game ever, by the way, was our 25-12 win over North Sydney in the 1998 finals.
