Do we keep Sandow?

I don't know. He may well have. Just my thoughts on observing Arthur for however long we've had him and speculation on how a rookie coach might behave in such a situation, ie coaching the Eels under pressure.

Yeah, I know dropping him is maybe not even possible. Stupid situation.

It's not about dropping him, just my observations and suspicions from watching BA. He's a rookie coach in a hell of a tough situation. It's possible, maybe even likely, that he felt pressure to appear strong. A man more secure in his situation (or more perceptive?) might have treated Sandow differently. As in, "Look, we can't keep you on, and we can't let you go, but that's just the way things are sometimes. It's just not a good fit. But you're a good footballer, and will be an asset to some team, and you've got the next 7 weeks or so to show that. And if we're any chance of going deep in this comp then you're gonna play a big part in that."

I would imagine that exact discussion probably took place

or maybe I'm wrong and it was more along the lines of ... "Don't you dare be a little pea-heart like I suspect you might be"

I disagree. No excusing Sandow, but a coach should know his players. What they're thinking and feeling. To some extent at least. I think there's a good chance that had Arthur played it differently we could have seen a different result. And it should always be about what's best for the team.

Your words that "a coach should know his players & what they are thinking and feeling etc" amazes me. BA turned Sandow around at the start of the year, remember? And Sandow gave BA credit for helping him sort things out. A coach, any coach, can only do, and endure, so much.

So you're assuming that Arthur didn't do that because he's a rookie? Funny how every other player has thrived under Arthur and has stepped up their game, even last night our forward pack matched it with the Dogs. They surely got a pep talk from Arthur and he managed to instill that confidence in them. We were all over the Dogs early on.

It wouldn't have mattered what Arthur said to the clown. He showed his true colours last night and they definitely aren't Blue and Gold. Sandow could have said to himself "I don't think they've done the right thing here so I am going to show them what they're going to miss out on" but nope, he packed it in and had a big sook like the little child he is. There is absolutely no way that Arthur had any say in the way sandow played last night.

I hope it did. And it may have, for all I know.

Probably not a good time to mention it, but I worry about Sandow. Rejected by a team, possibly even team-mates, and shunted off to England when we know he has a problem even being this far from Cherbourg. As annoyed as I am about the game, other things are more important.

no one is shunting him anywhere - he's chasing the $s in the UK - no one is forcing him to

I've generally defended sandow on here when people have hammered him - but f**k me he lost my support with that gutless, selfish crap last night

No, BA didn't turn Sandow around. Sandow has been pretty much the same player for his time here. Some good stuff, some bad stuff. And who is he going to give credit to when things are going well? The coach of some other club? Not likely. Arthur was the only candidate. It's just the way things are.

I'm not sticking up for Sandow. I'd punt him. I just want the Eels to do well and I'm airing my thoughts.

He could have prevented all of this if he had signed the contract we put in front of him a few months ago. But nope, he f****d up his career and now has to go over to England. He'll start off well there, score a couple of tries, look good and you'll see the typical "We should has kept him" comments.

Why is this is an issue, plenty of players are told they won't be offered a new contract, and how many of them play like Sandow appear to last night

Tyrone Roberts has been told to lolok elsewhere, as has numerous others, if we start to blame BA for man management issues, what about an adult starts to manage himself, fmd he has received about $2 million in in the last 4 years for playing professional footy - that in itself should tell you a lot about his personal responsibility and attitude if he is carrying on like it seems

Thank goodness, the coach stood on his dig, we seem to have a coach and even a president who will act according to the clubs nest interests and not give in to media pressure

Like a lot of others I enjoyed Sandow when he was on his game, but his infuriating couldn't care less attitude at timess this year has put a line in the sand, just move on Chris and do your best elsewhere if that's what you want - and stop holding your hand out !!!

It's official. According to Buzz (I know not a good source), there was a very offensive Instagram post made too which the NRL has asked for a response from the eels about.

I'd say he's trying to get himself sacked
