Do we keep Sandow?

It's also about setting an example for future cases, to deter similarly minded f**kwits from trying the same thing on.

I've had a lot of time for Chrissy as a bloke in the past, but he has really shat in his own cornflakes.

It would be difficult to imagine another player being stupid enough to follow in Sandow's footsteps. To tarnish your reputation like that and ruin any chance of future employment in the NRL? I really don't think it would happen very often. Also, the only reason it's come to this is that our second tier salary cap prevents us from dropping him and replacing him with another half-back. If that wasn't the case, little Chrissie would play reserves for the rest of the year and that would be that.
So how often do you think a player will be in Sandow's situation AND their club will be in the same second-tier situation at the same time? Possibly never.

Well, we've been on the border of the 2nd tier cap for each of the past 3 years.........

Every club seems to play the 2nd tier cap to its limits.

But in terms of incentives, making a strong statement that spitting the dummy won't automatically get you a release applies to a broader range of cases.

Revenge?
This is not about revenge. This is about asking a player to earn the money he wants to be paid.
He doesn't seem to want to fulfill his half of the contract, so why should we?
The only thing I want now is for Sandow to have his contract ripped up with no more payments going into his bank account. If that's not possible, then sit him out completely (I don't want him playing for Wenty either).[/QUOTE]

Yeah, you're probably right. Are we allowed to do that? And, of course, if we do that we need to find another half-back. Our second-tier cap is busted, so we'll have to play someone at half who isn't a half (unless the NRL gives us some special dispensation). I suppose that would still be better than playing Sandow, though.

This is why we need to get permission to suspend him. Then we can (presumably) get some 2nd tier cap relief.

From what I had read it appears we still have around $130k to be paid to Sandow for his 2015 contract. If we sack him I assume we paid him nothing for the rest of the year. Thus $130k is free under the cap, surely that would be enough to up grade Kelly to top 25 ($80k) and give Henry a second tier contract. That would solve our halve issue for the rest of the year. Plus we probably could get some further 2nd tier exemptions with Norman's injury.

I wonder if we actually need permission to suspend him? Couldn't it be just an internal discipline thing? The more I think about it the more I realise how much this little f**k has sabotaged the rest of our season. f**k, I bet Brad Arthur would like to kill the little c#nt.

It's tricky. If we just suspend him without talking to the NRL we'd have less chance of convincing them that he is genuinely unavailable. If we get them on board before suspending him, we have a chance. Either way, if we are going to do it for 'bringing the game into disrepute' reasons, we have to do it by the book (i.e through a proper process, giving the player the opportunity to have their case heard etc) which will take time. But 'proper process' and the 'Eels' have not been mentioned in the same sentence that often recently (unless accompanied by the words 'not implemented').

If he's going to tank the game, then there is no point picking him.

BA will know if he's going to put in. Don't pick him if he's not going to try.

He's on $500k a season FFS.

and I honestly don't think we can know if he is going to tank ..... after Friday night he proved himself an untrustworthy merkin .... so he can f**k off

I don't think it works that way (I could be wrong). I would have thought that Sandow would stay in our Top 25, b/c the wages we've already paid him this year would put him in the Top 25 paid players this year (even if we don't pay him another cent).

I agree with most of the sentiments on here and I've wanted him gone since the Souths game we lost this year when he didn't give a f**k with his goalkicking attempts.

The only thing that troubles me is that there are reports that he us unpaid TPA's.

I also wouldn't like to see us trying to use a ten minute ambiguous Facebook post to try to weasel out of his contract.

I'd be happy to tell the NRL we wanted his contract terminated for lack of effort but very hard to prove.

If he's out of pocket 150 for TPAS I'd tend to bite the bullet and pay his contract out.

Either way I want him out of the joint

The TPAs are between his manager and the player, as the club is not allowed to be involvd

Anyway thats the way it's supposed to be, let him take Obeid to court :), given his attitude on Friday, we should be able to just release him but not sure we will be able to. Just keep him away from NRL

Exactly. Values are set.

No need to pay someone any more, if we have no 2nd tier cap left, but no top25 players to play, then we get an exemption.

Lol, I'm no fan of Paul Gallen, but this woman is obviously an idiot.
Gets stuck into him calling him a drug cheat and giving him shit because Cronulla haven't won a comp...then gets upset when he calls her a goose and an idiot.
He was actually more restrained than he could have been.

It's not a good look for a club if it is regularly associated with failed third party agreements.

It will make it far harder to sign players in future.
