Do we keep Sandow?

You Sandow and Paulo lovers must live in Pou's alternate reality. Be cautious, he can be very convincing. Apparently us Eels fans are so used to losing one good pass for a try, no matter all your other mistakes, garuntees your spot in the team.

I dont think any of the 'Sandow lovers' on here gave him the DallyM points last year that had him in the top 10 of all players in the comp.

Sandow has a flurry of good performances then is consistently mediocre. If at the beginning of his tenure here we were told that he would not take us to one semi final, have half a season in reserve grade and the other half in rehab do you think that he would be considered a success after investing $2.2 million?

Enough! Show him the door.

I used to think yes, re-sign Sandow (on the same/slightly yes money), to play a reduced role in the squad, now that we've signed Norman.

I'd now starting to think we cut him loose if he's not happy with a reduced offer (to primarily play off the bench with 20mins as a hooker, and as a mid-half backup). No person wants their income to go down, so if he can find a better deal elsewhere, so be it...

Norman can fill in with Norman in 2016 (becuase he's already under contract), and then we get someone better in for 2017.

Fair enough, but the DallyM points tell you how many 'good' games you play. You don't lose points for the crap ones. There's no adjustment for the hot and cold taps.

Can't argue with the Sandow apologists. The proof lies with his career record. We make excuses for a career loser and whinge because we've signed a premiership winning half.

Agree Baz.
Of course Hayne playing 13 'good' games and winning the DallyM doesnt show how he played in the other 11 games of the season and whether he had crap ones but didnt lose points.

Not sure anyone has said keep Sandow and we dont need Foran.

If we had a better option for the starting No. 7, Sandow might be a useful bench guy (assuming no IDG / Seffa on bench). Could then use him when the situation dictates.

Mate since we signed Foran there has been heaps of posts about whether Norman or Sandow should partner him but apart from some saying we paid overs for him i dont think anyone has suggested we should just have kept Sandow and Norman.

Personally i think Norman is potentially our answer to the fullback dilemma with Foran and Sandow in the halves but i will continue to trust BA and team to recruit and retain who they think fits best. Afterall they are the paid professionals.

Agreed. Everyone's happy with Foran (though some aren't happy with how much we're allegedly paying him). The dispute seems to be over whether Foran is partnered by Norman (who is already contracted but prefers the left side) or Sandow (off contract but prefers the right).

Actually, this.

Norman floated onto the right side a few times last night and looked more than comfortable. from memory he set up two tries.

I'd lose Sandow and invest some money into the back line. Watching Robinson and Folau last night was real tough.

Have we ever scored points off a Sandow 40-20?

Every time he kicks one, I think it's a great play - but we never score off them. It's really frustrating.

Why is Sandow the target tonight? Paulo doesn't miss the tackle, Folau doesn't drop the ball, Hopoate makes two passes that should have been two tries, we don't get penalised into oblivion, we win the game.

Sandow did all he could to try to get us over the line, was involved in most of our tries, defended well, convert some good goals, got 40/20, got repeat sets, played on injured and he is the target? Why because he kicked one ball out on the full or one ball on the inside that the chasers weren't awake to and spent an eternity in the in-goal waiting for someone to pounce on it?

Online whingers are the worst.

I'm not making him the target - I'm lamenting that every time we kick a 40-20, we never capitalise on it.

I'm talking about the people that think Norman/Foran is going to be the answer to all of our problems, or that Sandow is the problem with this team.
