The fact he is having his contract torn up over expressing his religious beliefs is vilification . The Rugby Australia and Waratahs joint statement even states they are against vilification based on religion. It is black and White.

Also if that is their belief then they should also cancel the sponsorship deal with Qantas as being affiliated with Emirates is much for offensive to the LGBTQI community than what Issy said.

They are a bunch of hypocrites and are going to have to pay out the length of his contract
He's not having his contract torn up for expressing his religious beliefs. He is having it torn up for breaking the code of conduct after he gave assurances he wouldn't.

The breach was a Instagram post expressing his religious beliefs . Who says he gave assurances he wouldn’t do it again . I have only seen Rugby Australia claim that and they were the idiots who re-signed him on a 4 year 4 million dollar deal after the initial breach .

You can claim it is all based on a breach of contract but that breach is all based on Folau expressing his religious beliefs . Rugby Australia is vilifying him based on his religion and are hypocrites.

yet you will defend his right to vilify homosexuals?

maybe he would prefer to play with his homo-hating mates in heaven

This is just the most bizarre logic.

It's not based on him expressing his religious beliefs. It's based on the words he used in that post being discriminatory by way of vilifying a group of people based on their sexuality, which is explicitly a breach of the RA's code of conduct.

Suggesting he's the one being vilified is abject stupidity at best, or trolling at worst.

I would defend your right to vilify religion too. The world is not black and white and not everyone has the same views, people don’t have to agree with Israel (I don’t ) but the outrage is so over the top it’s not funny.

We have equal marriage rights here now and it’s about time so they literally have equality in every sense of the word . People need to toughen up and understand not everyone has the same beliefs.

Discrimination and Vilification means singling out a group by its very definition and Folau’s post was aimed at probably about 99 % of people on the planet.

This wouldn’t be a thing if yawnion weren’t in danger of sponsorship dollars being withdrawn by an activist CEO of an airline.

Outrage is from the twitter warriors as usual, but it’s dollars being lost and the reaction from a hopeless and out of her depth leader of the ARU.

Not even sure rugby union is much of a thing currently, but that’s another debate.

The words in his post are based on his religious beliefs , he even used scripture from the bible in his post. It’s not that hard to understand . He is being sacked for expressing those beliefs and the breach is purely based on that Instagram post.

Where the words come from are immaterial. He put them forward.

He's being sacked for the content, not for where it originated.

I still want to know why it's so important to have the right to discriminate, to make people feel like shit about themselves?

The content is a religious belief though . He is being punished for expressing HIS personal religious belief . It is simple to understand .

Because it is all subjective mate and everyone gets offended at different things. Where does the line get drawn. I don’t believe Folau did discriminate (the legal definition ) and broke no Anti discrimination laws.

Why do you think you should have the right to express your beliefs on Folau’s situation , your views could be deemed offensive by a lot of Christians .

Everyone should have the right to express their beliefs and unless actual laws are broken then it should be fair game .

You are really struggling to grasp a very basic concept, aren't you?
Rugby AU have a strategy of inclusion of all fans and players: https://www.rugbyau.com/diversity/pride-in-sport

Rugby AU would have this in all their contracts of players. For the second time, IF has broken this.

It has squat to do with freedom of speech or religion.

Rugby AU are going in one direction, and IF in another. You'd get fired too if you were going against the strategic decisions of your employer... twice.

Having religious beliefs does not protect him from the consequences of his actions (and we're on a slippery slope if we let religious beliefs become a get out of jail free card) - he is being punished for breaking the code of conduct and doing something he agreed not to do.

The source of the content isn't relevant, you are failing to understand.

The content itself discriminates, regardless of its origin. He is being punished because of the content.

You didn't answer the question.

Why do you defend the right to discriminate? Why should 'everyone be fair game'?

Why do you feel it is so important to have the right to make others feel less than?

If the legal principal and related breach by Izzy was as clear cut and simplistic as many on here are saying then a hearing scheduled for one day would not now be in day three with a possibility of being extended further.
