How would one go about arguing with something imaginary?

BasicFickleHorsechestnutleafminer-small.gif
Firstly you would deal with the fact that the living GOD loves you and wants you to know him as the saviour, then he might want to ask why you are so afraid of him if he is imaginary but you don't rant about other so called imaginary figures such as the tooth fairy or the easter bunny. I see that stupid grin fading even as GOD loves you.

Why has this gone 47 pages? Sport is based on the idea that everyone is included if able enough to compete at some level. Sport is REAL unlike the fables for the misguided and mentally ill.

But Folaus views are a paraphrase of the bible which is the word of god. Your argument is with GOD not Folau. Let us know how that discussion turns out.

No, they’re a paraphrase of some passages from a book cobbled together from a bunch of old middle eastern stories that some people (including Izzy) think contains the word of God. But that doesn’t make it so.

Well, except people like Folau now it seems.

It may seem like I'm defending Folau and specifically what he said. I'm not.

I just find the selective outrage and selective tolerance and selective inclusivity bizarre and erratic and I really, really don't like being told what I have to believe/ think/ say (within obvious limits). It's a kind of social totalitarianism, in my view.

Ideally, I think I would have preferred that Folau's views naturally damaged his brand and reputation and the effect of that just took it course without Qantas and the ARU getting involved. Pernicious views are best dealt with in the public square IMO.

The biggest challenge to this idea is the potentially damaging effect that this has on homosexuals (or whomever the particular view is unfavourably towards) and this is not something I am unsympathetic towards. It needs to be countered. I just don't really see this as being the way to do it.

The issue isnt that he is religious, its that he is saying that gay people should be punished for being gay. Its the same logic that ISIS used to throw gays off buildings. Like if being gay is bad enough that gay people literally burn in hell for all eternity than shouldn't we be punishing them on Earth ?

That's a very fair critique of Folau's view.

My view is that when it is acceptable to tell people what to think/believe/say and insist that they must conform, you end up with 'X' people being thrown off buildings.

It's one thing when the axe falls on the head of the people we generally disagree with. What happens when and where the pernicious ideals take root and we find our heads on the block?

I won the argument, god said he loves a bit of back door action.

Missing the point mate, you can have whatever views you wish. You can't express them if you want to be employed as an Professional Rugby Union Player. Qantas flies any Wallaby loving Queen with a handbag over to see the Queen if they have the money, so you know... And that's fair enough too.

It ain't rocket science.

And I get it. There’s limits to being able to freely express your views. What those limits are is being tested right now.

Rugby Union's income is not created by its inclusivity of sexual identity. Nor is Rugby League's.

There are many, many Union and League players that hold what you would call a 'separatist POV'- guarantee there's some at Cronulla.
