Point is Green's success was built on Thurston. Once JT retires Green no longer gets into finals and is moved on.

Let's not forget that the cowboys signed Sheens to some ridiculous long term contract before Green.
Without Sheens they might not have won that premiership.

According to Gaz’s stats

2014 - 10th, 12 wins, 12 losses
2015 - 12th, 9 wins, 15 losses
2016 - 14th, 13 wins, 11 losses*
2017 - 4th, 16 wins, 8 losses
2018 - 16th, 6 wins, 18 losses
2019 - 5th, 14 wins, 10 losses
2020 - 3rd, 12 wins, 4 losses

76 wins, 78 losses - 49.4% win record.

You reckon those stats deserves an extension? Did we get excited too early ?

To be honest, I’m not sure.
Compare them to previous coaches, including ones who won premierships elsewhere. Winning 15 games at Parra is like winning a premiership at Sydney or Melbourne. A wooden spoon is like a mid table finish at those clubs.

Pfft, stats. They don't tell you anything!
None of these emotional merkins will look at it and consider it because they are immune to logic.

For me, it is irrefutable.

Now, if the question is whether BA can get us a premiership that remains to be seen. I hope he does and have $500 riding on it but its likely he may not get us there.

But if that does happen I have used logic and reasoning to highlight that the next coach will have a much greater chance of success than any of the coaches that tried and failed during the chop and change era.

A period of stability has been exactly what we have needed given how f**ken awful we were beforehand. BA can take a lot of the credit for that.

They've got a bunch of Origin forwards and a million dollar f**ken halfback!
lol Gash Taylor is the worst half in the Comp, Peachy is a fat slob and Wallace is a massive plodder these days. Their best players are their young players. They are a team on the up, we are getting Bea Arthured.

If we do change lets make it a good one and not get back into the horrible period of chopping and changing. That was a time I think we'd all like to forget.

Since we are talking about Parramatta lets actually use some meaningful and relevant data. I don't think it supports what you are suggesting at all.

The Chop and Change Era

2007 - 5th, 13 wins, 11 losses (Hagan)
2008 - 11th, 11 wins, 13 losses (Hagan)
2009 - 2nd, 12 wins, 11 losses, 1 draw (DA)
2010 - 12th, 10 wins, 14 losses (DA)
2011 - 14th, 6 wins, 17 losses, 1 draw (Bigface)
2012 - 16th, 6 wins, 18 losses (Bigface and Arthur)
2013 - 16th, 5 wins, 19 losses (Stuart)

63 wins, 103 losses, 2 draws - 37.5% win record.

The Pick and Stick Era (BA)

2014 - 10th, 12 wins, 12 losses
2015 - 12th, 9 wins, 15 losses
2016 - 14th, 13 wins, 11 losses*
2017 - 4th, 16 wins, 8 losses
2018 - 16th, 6 wins, 18 losses
2019 - 5th, 14 wins, 10 losses
2020 - 3rd, 12 wins, 4 losses

76 wins, 78 losses - 49.4% win record.

Key take homes

  • Greater win percentage under pick and stick.
  • Best three seasons (based on win percentages) under pick and stick.
  • Four of the five best seasons (based on win percentages) under pick and stick.
  • The only season from chop and change that is in the top 5 win percentages is actually the first one before any chopping and changing had occurred.
  • Best two seasons are 2019 and 2020 (at the end of pick and stick).

* Ladder position impacted by salary cap
A+ for your use of bold and bullet points

Better than being HaganAndoKearneyStuart-ed.
Hagan was the worst signing in the history of the club, Kearney can’t coach but he did take over one of the worst Eels squads ever and Ricky was just doing time until he got the job he wanted. This bloke has had 7 years and has the squad he wants and still can’t turn us into contenders.

I'm happy that we have stopped the coaching merry-go-round. I'm open to the idea of moving BA on at the end of the season if we shit the bed but I want someone good and I don't want f**kwits calling for him to go if he hasn't delivered after 12 months. We'll just end up back in the shitful position we were.

My issue with all the discussion is that we have absolutely no control over whether the coach is around next year or not, so there is no point carrying on about his tenure.

I too don't know whether he has the ability to deliver but he is only 1 genuine game breaker from more than likely making us contenders. We have good and very good players but not that genuine superstar that can break a game open.

Go further back when you talk about stability, Hagan inherited what Smith had rebuilt after the disaster that was 03 and 04 (after consistent finals appearances before that) and then Hagan began the rot that set in until it all culminated with the events of 2016.

Before Smith, we had the same shit we had from 07 to 16 in the first half of the 90's.

I think I’d take Flanagan before Green. I heard Green is a merkin. At least the players liked Flanno.
