There are better squads
Storm
Panthers
Canberra
Souths
Roosters

I'd have Eels at 6th. With Keary gone I'd bump to 5th.
If we finished in top 5 again I would certainly keep.
We need to remember he assembled the squad. So using the excuse look at the side. It is a good squad etc is due to BA.
Plenty of coaches in the last 4yrs have tried to build a side just capable of making the top 8 and failed. BA seems to make decent signings and re signings.
The risk of letting him go might be bottom 6 for 5yrs and a coaching round about...
I'd rather the top 8 and fingers cross we get some luck in finals.

I don’t think Scum or Rorters have definitely better squads. And I think there are lower teams who are probably better across their squad, just not as good in their 17.

Storm have Two of the best hookers in comp.
The best 5/8 in comp
Best winger in comp
Fullback is top 4
It's a great squad.

I am basing a lot on the spine also. Its so important. I am unsure any of our spine players rank in the top 5 in their positions. Maybe Moses yes.
Guth and Mahoney would be just outside it. D.Brown prob isnt in top 10

I assumed you were talking 30 man squads. After their top 17s, Scum and Rorters fall off a cliff. They’ve got 2 of the best plug’n’play coaches though. We also fall off a (shorter) cliff.

I may pay Gutho being outside top 5 but honestly like your man would say you could throw a tissue over the fullbacks in the comp. There’s a depth of talented fullbacks at the moment. Any given week the top 5 changes.
But I’d like to know who you have ahead of Rheed?
I’ve got Korisau (bit of a tampon though), Grant (let’s see what he’s like when he finally plays for Scum though), Hodgson (looks to have come back into pack) as being ahead. Then there’s Cook but only under specific circumstances and Bmith who at the moment looks a bit disinterested. So maybe 6th, but right at this moment I’d have more faith in Rheed than Bmith, and across a long season potentially at least on par with Korisau or Hodgson for actually being on field

Plus 2 of the best props. And a monster at 13.

I thought Rheed has been great but a few times took wrong options against Sharks. But over first 3 weeks the best hooker in comp as he has outplayed his opposite 9.
But I'd have it like this
Korisau,Grant,Cook,Hodgson as the top 4.
Mahoney sneaks 5th but those Brailey brothers are talented and close. B.Smith offers plenty but unsure he is a genuine 9.
A year is a long time in NRL. In 16 weeks there is potential for Rheed to be the no 1 hooker in the game. Signs are there for sure.
Cook and Hodgsons best year are prob past them. So it leaves Korisau and Grant. Now where would you of ranked those two at start of 2020? Certainly not top 5. Now they are you best 2.

Dylan and Moses can make the top 5 and have the potential to.

Gutherson will always be a good fullback but I don't see him ever being in the best of bunch. Just lacks explosiveness that many fullbacks posses.

I'm just not as big on N.Brown as some others on here. He runs fast but doesn't bend the line and rarely breaks it. He does bring energy though and effort along with aggression.
I just rate RCG,JNR and MATTO as superior forwards. By end of season I wouldn't be surprised if Kafusi,Papalì and Nikauore over took him also as they seem to be getting better each week. If given the choice of any of those 3 who I reckon would cost 300k or Brown at 600k its an easy choice.

Was referring to The Storm mate. Absolute fan of Welsh and Bromwich and NAS are super players as well.

I don't think the coach can get credit for the squad. Building a squad is a whole-of-club effort and there are plenty of factors than just coaching that determine how close to market price you have to pay for a player.
