Then who provides the composure and control? Or are we expecting him to do both?
unfortunately we have a young spine ..... drown might be mr stability one day - but he is probably still young

so yeah moses has unfortunately got a foot both sides of the fence atm

yeah i think it sucks and don't like it ... but i think its a sign of the times - contracts and managers are the shit stain on the nrl but its a job these days

but i agree - best it never happens in the first place
True. But you are right - I was impressed with how quickly the club and Gutho knocked it on the head.

No. Thats not what I am suggesting.

Allow me to explain using this table:

TeamControlling HalfDynamic Ball Running 6
SouthsReynoldsWalker
PenrithClearyLuai
ParraMosesTBA
That’s just arbitrary criteria. Players like Fittler, Johns and Thurston could do both.

No. Plenty of the shit clubs have leadership, just not as much ability.

I'd say we are well above average with our ability and slightly above average in leadership.
Name f**kin names ... which clubs and players?

I think our position on the ladder is in line with the leadership stakes

melbourne have a bunch of experienced players all providing it (and the fear of bellamy)
penrith - yeo, cleary .... I reckon they do well considering their young team
Souths - cook, reynolds - walker is a bit of a brain fart alot of the time
roosters - lost alot of leadership lately
manly - DCE and the turbovics - even foran is back doing well

canberra - probably some decent leaders, but have wavered a bit this season

who leads for - knights, tits, warriors, tigers, sharks, dragons
broncos, dogs - diabolical

There is no doubt in my mind that he can do both but his primary role is to control the game is it not? Thats what I am describing.

I'm convinced that we'd be a much better team with another dangerous ball runner in the spine. It would take a lot of pressure off Moses who arguably has to do more than any of the other top number 7's at the moment.

I'll see your poor comparison to other players and raise it:

How good do you think Sterlo would have been without Kenny?

Did it even happen to begin with, or were the press just blowing it out of proportion.
The press blow everything out of proportion.

Why was his player manager even discussing it with his grubby media friends?

Thats like playing a Top 4 side and not throwing a bunch of shapes. The outcome was always going to be fairly predictable...

So do I which is why I said it is slightly above average FFS.

Can't be arsed going through names and shit because it will basically just prove what we are both actually agreeing on.

I reckon Gutho's probably a lot more integral to our team than people give credit for, and I also reckon talking about moving Drown on is a tad premature, he'll develop into a very good footballer, he's only young.
He already is a very good footballer. Both of them are.

I'm not suggesting that one of them needs to be moved on because either of them are shit. I just think they are too similar and we need someone more dynamic in attack at either 1 or 6.

Probably irrelevant anyway as its likely that both will stay at the club.

Don’t like what Andrew Johns has brought to the team ? Frankly since his involvement, I have seen Moses and Mahoney blossom. Moses is taking the line on and his kicking game is amazing now. Young Dylan IS improving and yes, he needs to learn how to float across the line looking to put runners in holes Jerome Lui style and I reckon a JT show-n-go would work a treat for him. You might also note how gutho now puts Waqa into space now and doesn’t he lap that up.

Pennys struggled for points last night as did we, however that is not a reflection of poor attack, rather good defence. May I also remind you that we beat Storm 4 tries to 2 a few weeks ago.

Agree. Moses kicking game isnalmost as good as Nathan's now.

I think we need an attacking weapon in the spine. Replace Gutho with Ponga and we are a much more scary proposition.

But we would need to move someone else on. Ponga would cost an extra 350k imo. The easiest choice would be N.Brown who probably signed for 500k. And start with Matto. Hope Stone or Hollis come good.

Love Brown's effort and commitment, but like Gutho he's just a bit too plod in attack. Appreciate its Moses' team to lead but Brown needs to be a better foil to Moses, like Luai is to Cleary. Some unpredictability and running brilliance.

To be honest though, I'm not sure he can ever be that type of player.

He is 21. Has most areas in game sorted. Now will work on attack and vision in off season. Can spend most time doing this. If it doesn't work out then perhaps centre in 2023.
Kafusi come on this season in leaps then regressed. Just needs to work on fitness.

It is good when a guy only has to work in one or two areas of their game. Means they can improve it faster and allocate more time.
I seen a few signs from Brown the last 5 weeks to suggest he might be very good.

So you feel Dylan's peaked at age 21. Interesting.
Nathan Cleary will be 24 soon. When Maloney left most said Nathan has no attack. He will be found out. At age 22 he went up a level and then this season he went up another to become a top 3 player in game. Prior to the last two season most said his ceiling was Mitchell Pearce. Now people are saying A.Johns.

D.Brown is good. And in two year might be great. If not centre might be his spot.

Gutherson is what he is. I'd keep him until we have a junior bust into NRL. Russel might be the guy.

We lost to the 2nd beat side in comp by 2 points without our Hooker who is one of our best players.
We go into 2022 with some young kids who barely played NRL who will improve. It isn't like we are that far away.

The club should never had to tell Gutho to shut it down because it should never have happened in the first place. It was an act of pure selfishness and something that no player serious about their club should allow. The fact that he's our captain and it happened a second f**king time makes it even worse in my books.

I see Guthomas a bit of a clown/joker personality. A bit of an attention seeker but a great fun guy.
Look at Jake and Turbo and you see two modest gentlemen. Both would be better leaders imo.
Josh Jackson would make a great leader in a shit side.

A great captain is someone you'd go to war for and trust. Gutho isn't that. Think Cayless. You would have a different level of respect and trust towards the guy imo by the way he comes across compared to Guth. Guth however would be more fun to be around.

Yep there is no doubt gutho sets a great standard and work ethic on the paddock and game day.

BA had said numerous times he wants to rest him from training and he doesnt want a bar of it and trains anyway so he can keep setting the standard.

He was made captain in 2018 when we had no leadership. I felt he was more calm then usual last night when talking to klein last which was an improvement on previous times.

Personally think Mahoney is the long term skip just hope he stays and doesn't head back up to QLD. I think the 2nd Brisbane team if they come into the comp is our major concern on keeping reed as they will be right into him i suspect

I don't think Dylan has peaked, I'm just questioning whether having both him and Gutho in the same team is wise.
