Instead of telling the fans there are no benchmark levels expected from the coach after a 36 year premiership drought I would rather the CEO had not said anything.
No bench mark levels for our 9 year coach who has won just two finals in that time??

Accountability??? Not at Parramatta.

Every time our CEO opens his mouth he puts his foot in it. An A grade dope, and people on here keep telling me the club is doing all it can do win a comp. I say it again, Bullshit.

Funnily enough Parramatta is easily accessible from Mt Druitt so Penrith should be fighting off raids from us. No advantage there.

It’s not about controlling the outcome. It’s about providing the team the best opportunity to win the game.

By car it's 5 mins further from Mt druit to Parra.....

Well it is because it’s just one rival club within such a short commute, as opposed to the half dozen we are dealing with. Add to that the distribution of junior rugby league players in Sydney. They are clustered to the west of Parramatta while the NRL clubs are clustered to the east. That means the eastern tail of this distribution (the ones furthest from Penrith) will be the easiest, on average, for most NRL clubs to poach without the long drive being a factor working against them.

Well that occurred last year, and I would argue it happened in 2020 as well. All those injuries and suspensions in the finals were hardly in Brad Arthur’s control.

If most of the junior rugby league players are situated to the West of Parramatta then that would mean we have a geographical advantage because we only have Penrith to contend with to snare those juniors. That would also mean we have a geographical advantage over Penrith since we would have access to the players East of Parramatta which they don’t have. Most players who live in the Blacktown LGA are situated closer to Parramatta than Penrith.

We didn’t give ourselves the best opportunity to win last season. We played poorly throughout the season and finished sixth which meant we had to face Penrith in the second week of the finals.

You’re missing the point that there are all these other clubs signing these players as well, and they are all on the same side of the junior rugby league player distribution as us. Yes we have an advantage over those clubs because we are closer, but Penrith have a significant advantage because they are right in the middle of the western edge of the cluster, with no competitors in that direction.

This is why Penrith’s junior teams are significantly better than ours. The Roosters are significantly better because they have the money to pour into recruiting from Queensland and country NSW. They used to fly Joseph Manu and RTS over from NZ on the weekends to play SG Ball ffs.

As for how well we played last year, we are a team that relies, more than any other, on controlling the ball. Our pack lacks the toilers that the better packs have, and they crumble when forced to make repeat efforts. This is why we get flogged sometimes and win well other times. It usually comes down to how well we control the ball. When we’ve got the ball, merkins like Paulo and Papali’i can drag arse and get their breath back.

How is Penrith in the middle of the western edge? They’re about as far West as you can get in terms of Sydney. After that you’re approaching the Mountains territory (which is no longer Western Sydney) which I imagine would be providing a modest number of their juniors. Most of their juniors would come from the Penrith/Blacktown LGAs and as I said earlier Blacktown is closer to Parramatta than it is to Penrith.

Better packs? I would say we have the best pack in the competition along with Penrith. Who are the better packs in your eyes? We haven’t won all that well this season. Out of 14 rounds so far we’ve only won 13+ on 2 occasions. Most of our games have been a struggle till the 80th minute even against a average sides.
