Every coach has missed the finals. Finishing ninth is well within the normal range of expected results for almost every club. How could you sack a merkin for it?
How many are spoon winning coaches in their 10th season and straight off a GF appearance?? By your logic we should never sack a coach ever. If you had your way you’d still be making excuses for Big Face.
That’s why I reckon he will get another extension. They didn’t sack him for 16th, they won’t sack him for 9th. 17th must be the magic number.
He could come 18th in a 17 team comp and get another yaar with this mob.
He actually exceeded his KPI last season because I suspect it would have been triggered if he got the team to the preliminary final.
So if we just made the grand final does that mean he can or can't coach? Most likely it means a premiership window just narrowed significantly. Hardly the coach's fault. It's how the salary cap is supposed to work.
I would wait until their three year rolling win rate dropped below 40%. In the case of Kearney, at the time he was arseholed we would've had to win 19 of his next 30 for his 3YRWR to get above 40%. No chance with our squad at the time.
I don't think they would make a decision based on one season worth of bad results. Though I guess if bad luck can cause you to miss the finals, good luck can get you into a grand final. In that case should it be a KPI? Probably not.
Ridiculous when he still had two years remaining on his contract, i said last year we should enjoy the ride because him fluking a GF was going to set the club back 5 years.
