I don't for a second blame Bea for Dylan's mid season episode. But maybe a more influential/tougher coach would have seen dylan sitting at home watching a movie that night in accordance with the team's supposed "pact"

2. Defensive structures
3. Fast ball movement to our edges
4. Decoy runners
5. Forwards running on to the ball
6. Lack of speed
7. Tactical nous and game awareness
8. Squad depth
9. Actual first grade standard no.9
10. Getting players up for big games

DON’T BLAME ARTHUR FOR EELS PREMIERSHIP WINDOW SLAMMING SHUT

It’s fair to say that Parramatta’s premiership window has officially slammed shut ahead of the grand final rematch against the Panthers this Thursday night.

But you’d be heading down the wrong path blaming Brad Arthur for what went wrong this season.

Although there are a few others at the club who should be putting their hands up.

For starters, Ryan Matterson for copping a three-match ban instead of paying a fine. When that initially happened you knew immediately what a dumb decision it was.

But as a club they still allowed Matterson to go through with it.

Then you had Dylan Brown, Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Maika Sivo all serve lengthy bans at crucial stages.

They also made some costly recruitment and retention blunders allowing the likes of Reed Mahoney, Isaiah Papali’i and Marata Niukore to walk out the door, especially without the roster depth to maintain where they finished last year.

Usually when a team’s season goes down the drain the coach is left wear the brunt of the criticism.

While I’d questioned previously if Arthur was going to be the man to lead this club to a premiership, that was before they made last year’s grand final.

I still think the club made the right call extending Arthur’s contract because it wasn’t coaching that let the Eels down this season.

You don’t need to be Jack Gibson to realise what the real issues were.

No it isn't. The excuse came after the players were unavailable. These past four years there haven't been so many unavailable players and so we haven't missed the eight. Excuses had nothing to do with it.

Hodgson waste of f**king money we all could see it he was a reaction from Reed taking more money at the Dogs.
Losing 3 forwards and not having a plan to replace them until the f**king offseason. How do you come up with excuses for that? Ice should have been re-signed before he went on the market.

We dont have wingers (quality) or backup centres Dunster blew his knee out over a year ago Blake was shit at the end of last season Sivo has gone backwards and doesnt provide anything.. All could be seen ages ago.. The club loses their mind just before August deadline trying to sign no bodies from the Raiders and Titans..

I reckon Gus will try at end of next year.

There will be a new gun dummy half on the market that Gus will want to get his hands on and realise he overpaid Reed.

Not many big money signings last there contract under Gus

Reasons or excuses? The fact is that contracts and the salary cap mean you can't just sign whomever you want for however much you want to pay. When negotiating for any player, including retentions, you are often faced with the choice of paying overs or missing out. You can't pay overs for every player in your squad or you'll win a lot fewer than 11 games ffs.

I'm happy for BA to be replaced but I don't see anyone turning our club into premiers in the short term. Our team of muppets just aren't good enough.

I just hope we can strip out the shit and get some quality around our 1, 6 and 7. If we don't do that in the next couple of years then we are in serious rebuild territory.

I'm sure there's a few coaches who could do at least as good a job as Arthur's, even a couple who could do better. But I also think he's done a good job. Nothing I've seen tells me we will improve just by replacing him.
