Does the potential Qld injury crisis give NSW a chance?

Soward does not look like such a liability if he does not have to defend against Inglis...

Idris and Gas look more threatening and intimidating with no Inglis or Hodges...

I think this injury crisis could be a massive leveller...

Qld have the dominance in the front row...

Respective second rows are competitive

Qld have it int he halves clearly...

But out wide Gordon/Hayne, Uate, Idris, Gas could be more dominant than people think against Slater, debutant Yow Yeh with Tonga, Vidot and an out of position Boyd at centre...

Not quite like the halycon days when Bell, Folau, Inglis, Hodges, Tate, Tonga and Boyd competed for 4 spots....

When the team is made up mostly of Dragons players it will effectively rule out any advantage we gained through QLD having a few injuries.

There are a few Dragons who should definitely be in the side, but some of those likely to be picked aren't as good as other options. If the reports are true then Jarryd Hayne won't even crack the squad and he has been our best and most consistent player the past few years.

A FEW injuries...

Wtf is Lote?

Hodges and Inglis look doubtful...

Tate could never play again...

Not to mention Folau off playing baseketball...

Those are five top rank internationals... and you make it sound like Dave Taylor, Michael Crocker and Corey Parker are injured.

Nobody has it over Slater. Smith is the best hooker in the game. Queenslands forward pack is much stronger.

Then there's the fact that they have practically the same team every year.

I have to listen to the same crap from Big Mal every year about how the Maroons are underdogs. Should only be a short while before he comes out and says it again.

"For over 100 years Qld have been underdogs in every game regardless of whether you're winning or losing"- Mal Meninga.

Beetson, Miles, Belcher, Tallis, Langer, Lewis, Lockyer, Thurston, Slater, Smith, Walters, Webcke etc.- yep, that mob have "underdogs" written all over them!

Justin Hodges is a huge loss for sure. The others are way overrated and they were picked would have been weakening your squad. IMO the strongest possible QLD backline is:

1. Billy Slater
2. Jharal Yow Yeh
3. Justin Hodges
4. Willie Tonga
5. Darius Boyd

Greg Inglis - fat. lazy. Has been in awful form and unlike previous years doesn't look like he has the fitness to step up for Origin.

Brent Tate - He's a loss for depth, but hasn't been available very often over the past few years anyway. Wouldn't have been near the QLD side this year at full strength.

Lote Tuqiri - Wouldn't even crack the side now if he was fit. Yow Yeh and Boyd would be the wingers.

Israel Folau - he left the sport. He's no longer a League player and doesn't count as a loss to QLD.

Seriously the "injury crisis" is being blown way out of proportion. NSW have had depleted squads to pick from over the past few years aswell... they just effect us less because our selectors tend to pick crap teams even at full strength.

Was looking good in the International before getting injured.

He'd be there before Tonga.

If Tate didn't get injured last year he would've been a possibility for the wing spot or Justin's vacant right centre position.

As soon as he saw Soward, Scott, or any player he does not rate in the NSW backline then he would have been ready to go on a rampage.

Brent Tate - He's a loss for depth, but hasn't been available very often over the past few years anyway. Wouldn't have been near the QLD side this year at full strength.
But its not at full strength now, is it? So not only a loss to depth, but a loss to the actual team. Learn to process things fully to their ultimate conclusion.
Lote Tuqiri - Wouldn't even crack the side now if he was fit. Yow Yeh and Boyd would be the wingers.
Would be unless Boyd or Yow Yeh are moved to centre. Who is the next winger in line? Tuqiri being an Aus rep last year is the obvious candidate...

Israel Folau - he left the sport. He's no longer a League player and doesn't count as a loss to QLD.
Not a loss to Queensland? The success rate of the bomb just diminished greatly and you're suggesting this does not count as a loss to Qld. Of course recent retirements count as losses.

Hah. Well we shall know come game day and who runs out on the field (and how well they do) whether or not there is actually a crisis.

I think the Footy Gods are finally starting to smile upon us... Hopefully we'll see Lockyer, Inglis and Hodges all out. Seroiusly, not gonna be a great win if we win because of injuries but at this point, I'll take anything!

In the fair dinkum department, as long as the spine is in place - Slater, Lockyer (he confirmed on the Broncos website today he should be OK), Thurston and Smith - Queensland should retain favoritism.

Hodges is one of my favourite players of all time, but his influence in Origin thus far has been modest. In fact, the influence of all centres in the Origin arena in the last few years has been minimal (apart from Inglis).

Our forwards are still superior to NSW in terms of experience - Queensland to make it a six pack.

The same reason B Thorn, K Hunt and T Carrol played for Queensland and why B Teo wants too.

But it makes slightly more sense than an Aussie who follows an English Premier League team. :)

Ahhh......so you're a kiwi

figures.........
