don't think the Dragons will be as poor as most people are predicting.

I'm still confident we will make the eight......the same as every other supporter of every other team except our very own Suicide Watch Crew.
Gotta have an optimistic approach or there's no point following your team.

Even the Sharks still have 30 odd supporters after all these years of nothing...

What are you on about? Because we don't like the Dragons hopes this year we are suicidial? Is that what you really are suggesting? As someone who had the unfortunate task of dealing with a few suicides, strangely enough none have been the result of a sporting not doing well.

don't worry about it man. I would rather be part of the suicide watch squad then the hippie brigade. At least we have dose of a reality. The rest have smoked too much ganja and drop one too many acid tabs and have hallucinated a quality squad for this coming season.

I think Gould brings up a really good point. We just haven't seen enough of our team this year to make a judgment. I think after 5 rounds we will know. So we will wait and see.

Agreed.
Let's wait and see.
In fact I'll wait until (2010-1979)+2010=2041
if necessary.
and it may be....
but such is life.

gould is becoming a boring old hack, just like rothfield, wouldn't take any notice of either of them, i have an idea, how about we have a look at a few games, before we bail out.
I still respect Gus when he talks footy,Rothfield however is just a mug who needs to sell papers .
I know Gus writes for the media also but you can feel his passion for the game when reports.

I think the first round will tell plenty for the dragons against the best team in the comp.

Even if they lose but stay competitive I think its a good result for the club.

Dragons have a very solid forward pack and if Harrison by some miracle can find his attacking game he once had at the raiders and Prior can hold on to the ball more I think its a very decent team.

The only issue is that If Soward is off form there is no one else to really step in and move the team around and Fien is well past it and you don't expect young Drinkwater to really step up that much in his first year.

Its really all up to Soward I think and depends how he plays.

General consensus here is that our season depends on Soward having a big year. Completely agree with that because he is the closest thing to a gamebreaker/x-factor we have.

He was a key part of our premiership success but he had the support of Gasnier and Boyd in the backline and Smith and Costigan as enforcers in the forwards. They are all gone now.

For the record, I think Soward is far from an elite player. A good player certainly, but a far cry from the great halves in the comp (The Thurstons, Cronks, Cherry Evans etc).

The fact our season hinges on Soward, means that 10th is probably as good as it will get, and re-inforces the feeling we will be chasing a few big names next year.

Isn't it funny how most of us want Drinkwater to start instead of Fien,we aren't coaches but follow our team closely and we realise Fien's best days are behind him.
Except our coach.

It was summed up well elsewhere by Rex Terp, but apart from a few minutes in the trials, no-one knows how Drinkwater is going. Except the coach. How is his attitude, how is he training, fitness, etc etc. Yes Fien's best days are undoubtedly behind him but more must go into the decision

I think it goes without saying that we will go a lot better than most of the incompetent sheep in the media are predicting. I, like most of us was pretty disgusted by what we dished up in the Charity Shield but I think we should probbaly reserve judgement until the first 7 or 8 rounds are done & dusted. With our pack and (traditionally) strong defence, there's no reason why we can't make the 8.

Fien has a suspect knee that is currently causing him grief. The coach knows it, the players know it. He played through the trials with it. He isn't expected to see the season out... Maybe Drinky playing in the Cutters is to build confidence/combinations.... I know some senior players are dirty about Drinky being overlooked

Maybe if we were playing any other team Drinkwater would get a crack. I think Price is worried the Storm will chew him up and spit him out, thus destroying any confidence he may have. Who knows?

Losing Kyle is going to really hurt the Saints. Saints are a team that when you write them off always seem to suprise you. There a heaps of games where Saints have not had a chance in hell to win according to these so called experts and produced freakish results. Good motivation for the boys to take into 2013.

Aren't most players stating publicly they r backing price and want him to stay?
Hmmmm !
