Dragons approach Tony Smith

I do not like the idea of T. Smith joining our club at all, just another job for the boys round. Hell I would seriously take Sheens over him. We need people who have no or have never had any affilation to our club.

To be honest i don't feel as though it'll be jobs for the boys in regards to Tony Smith. It's been such a long time ago and it's not like he was a player of note in the past from a Dragons standpoint. I think both Smith brothers are at least intelligent coaches.

Yeah, who cares about coaching record, ability to mativate players or use an appropriate game plan...we just need someone, anyone, who doest know Doust.

My vote goes towards Steven Kearney and Ivan Henjak as co-coaches.

Tony Smith's name has been mentioned as a candidate for the Dragons job next season and he is a coach held in high regard in England for his work with the Warrington club. Smith is the younger brother of former Dragons coach Brian and is an ex-Dragons player himself, having played there in the early 1990s. But my mail is Smith is settled with his family in England and unlikely to gamble his career on the under-performing Dragons. With Benji Marshall signed for the next two years on big money and a lopsided roster and management problems, the Dragons shape as a 'coach killing' club.

These articles are written by smartass 'journos' who think they have all the news.
If he said Tony Smith himself had told him he was settled I would listen ,but people use the term 'mail' loosely these days.
It's all SH*T otherwise.

I agree Jenninga I posted it to show how our Bullsh*t situation is becoming media foder and can't be good for our already low moral

We are becoming what Parra was for a couple of years,an easy target for media bullsh*t,Doust and co should be ashamed of themselves allowing us to reach such depths.

Is there anyone in management who can stop the club imploding. The team plays with no heart and appear to have given up even though they are suppose to be professional and we aren't even half way through the season, we seem to be cash strapped, we haven't got a decent coach and none on the horizon, there's a lot of talk of players wanting contract releases ( and these are the few we want to keep), the media are having a field day denigrating us....it seems like we are just falling, falling into the abyss. There has to be someone within the club who can take matters into hand and turn things around...or is it all too late!!

Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster.

After the short Wayne Bennett ear, I'm convinced that our next coach needs to be someone who has actually won a premiership, either in the NRL or ESL, either as a coach or player. Too many personalities in this team now with Dugan and Marshall, they need a strong authoritive figure to stand over them.

Daley will be announced after the soo. 3yrs 1.2m ;-)

I will keep eyes and ears out for that one. I'm sure at the very least he will be respected by the players and will have good relationships also with high calibre players as well. He has enough knowledge to know what needs fixing........that is all.:)

He was Browns assistant with a lot better cattle than this and produced zero.
He may be miles away from that but it still makes me nervous we might end up with him.

Welcome to the forum ...

One problem buddy, good premiership winning players dont = good coaches.
Just look at Fitler.

Not saying it cant happen, but it's a risk we cant afford. Like you said we need a hard head coach with experience at coaching and a fair track record.

Hear what your saying Minh, but i think right now we need a track record, established coach who will put the sword through the squad.

Daley may come good in the future, and appears to be loving SOO, but he is still very fresh and untested in the NRL.

Let some other team be the guinea pig. Not us.

The only reason we would sign daley is so that young mc gregor and doust can keep there job, if this happens we are fuvked for a long long time.

That is so so sad that I reckon you are right & we will be screwed, but at least the old boys club can keep rolling along. Daley maybe also able to attract some more Raiders Rejects to boost the cutters.
