League Central TV: Eels first, French rugby second for Jarryd Hayne
The Daily Telegraph
November 2, 2018 6:00am
IT appears that Jarryd Hayne’s playing future has been narrowed down to either the Parramatta Eels or French rugby.

Speaking on League Central TV, Buzz Rothfield revealed that the dual Dally M Medal winner appears unlikely to sign on with a rival Sydney NRL club.

The Eels are believed to be desperate to retain the club favourite, but a lack of salary cap space could force him out of Parramatta.

“I was told Jarryd would not play for another Sydney club. Parramatta’s the love of his life,” Rothfield said.

“They do desperately want him to stay, but they can’t move.

“It’s a wait and see. Will Parramatta get into position to be able to offload players?”

Hayne was a notable absentee from the club’s first day of pre-season training on Thursday, with coach Brad Arthur declaring he has ‘no idea’ if the versatile back will ever wear the blue and gold again.

Bloody hell OKB. Every good retired AB goes to France or Japan. The money is phenomenal. Hayne might be showing a brain cell lol

Problem is DQ, as others have mention .................... if Hayne was serious about winning a premiership, with the available clubs with cap space, we were the pick, by far.

I thought at his age, he may want a GF and or win.

From all indications, he may just be coin motivated.
Time will tell.

I'd day he would be looking to get as much coin as he can to settle the USA legal issue.

Didn't think of that, Possum but consider that he's signs with us.
We should have a decent year.
If we were to make the GF and or win it, the club would offer him another year.
If he's stays with Parra and they have another poor year ( very likely ) ......... he's a shot duck, game over.
Take a little less with us may in turn be more down the road.
Just saying.

I wish I was as hard arse as you OT! You're perhaps the most negative guy I've come across online. Do your kids and grandchildren think you're great? Who knows.
Negative FMD I just call it as I see it
I have followed this great club for over 55 years and supported through its high and lows
The parasite that attached itself namely Illawarra needs to be called out for what it is and those that allow mediocrity to be the norm need a rocket up their collective arses.
Our club is down on its knees and will only get better when fans and admin alike admit how pitiful it is
I have applauded those things that have been better but will not shy away from critiquing those things that I consider wrong.
If you want to live in Kumbai land by all means do so

We have a two year window to win a GF so, a band aid is exactly what we need right now. I still think that Lomax will be our long term fullback and so 2 years at right centre would be all he needs when it comes to NRL experience.

Let the Tigers take Dufty at 700k and we'll have Hayne at 600k.
If we got Hayne. I would want to play him centre and keep Dufty fullback.

I'm guessing you mean Kumbaya, and you hate the Illawarra part of Saint George? Got it!

It is clear now that we can't keep Dufty and buy Hayne. If Dufty can build up and if he can improve in his defence, high kick catching and positional reads it won't be before our two year window is closed. At the end of 2019 we have a large number of players with contracts ending, most that are extended will be upgraded, so it is important we act to put our best team on the field each year and forget about sentiment, loyalty and mediocracy.

For me it is more important to have a good all round fullback with outside backs that are strong in defence and attack. So with our last two top 30 positions I'd like to see Hayne and a new right winger with speed and good defence signed. At a pinch it could be Field to right wing providing his defence continues to improve. Pereira is another option for right wing, nothing brilliant but performed well at left wing towards the end of the 2018 season.

I hope you are right OKB1, but I dont think we have a good enough side or coach yet to get a GF, not sure I have seen the real X-factor yet...and I hope I am wrong

Definitely don't want 'sediment' in the team!

Has anyone seen the lastest post from thedragonsbus on Instagram?
I would say based on that Jarrod Hayne is signing with us for 2019. #haynesysonthebus
Welcome Jarrod, I hope you take Lafai's position or Pereria's.

He should take Aitken's position before Lafai.

While I don't think Lafai is a long term solution either, he turns up in defence and is always up in support

Not if you go off 2018 statistics. Lafai made more mis-tackles than Aitken.
But hey, I'm not going down that path again.
Good news is, Hayne is better than both of them!

Statistics only tell you what you want to hear.
Aitken played less games so the odds are in favour of Lafai missing more. I reckon more of Aitkens miss tackles led to tries more so than Lafai

May be one of the players taking the piss out of Dufty.

I live in hope.
