I just hope the new coach brings a broom. The broom symbolises change. You can make an argument for each and every player to retain their position. The coach has been doing it for years. But at the end of the day you need someone with guts to come in and make the big calls. With the exception of McIness I would not be sorry to see the back of any of our players, such is my despair at the last 9 years.

They are all good blokes.
They all try hard.
They all have strengths.

They continue to serve up loses like the one tonight. As a unit they don't give success. They are not good enough in the NRL. I don't think any decent coach would stand for it.

3 aspects of Rava's game need to be worked on - defensive reads (comes up with amazing hits but too many times comes of his wing), stamina (those plods back with the ball are ineffectual and get us on the back foot) and handling (he's good for a drop or two most games). I do love him but there's big issues there if we are fair dinkum.

Would love to see Hetherington too. A fierce, aggressive player. Lawrie and Kerr go missing often. Blake showed tonight he couldn't handle the pressure near the line. Embarrassed by Molo and gave away the match losing penalty with a brain snap. Where is the extra dimension in his game, never an offload. Kerr has huge potential but if plateauing for mine. A bit like we witnessed with Host who is only just coming good now though will have to see if it continues after his next contract. For mine, Kerr needs to up his game. We have no match winners, no dominators up front.

Rava is a work in progress but he’s scored 15 tries this year? Playing outside Lomax is a wingers dream.

few key additions, different tactics, better defence we’ll be Competitive next year. Bring on the Hook!!

That’s why an outsider is essential. They will come to training in the pre season without bias. I guarantee if we have an outsider next season the 17 will be vastly different to what played tonight.

I get your point and do not wish to gloss over the good with Rava. He could easily become a fan favourite in a year or two. Credit to Mary for sticking with him but I just wonder if someone like Hook, a defensively minded coach, will stand for players like Clune, Dufty and Rava who all have obvious defensive problems in their game. I'd like to think he'd come in and do something about it.

I have faith that Rava can and I hope he and Lomax provide many more tries in the future.

Props take a long time to mature, he’s on the right track. Runs hard, fast and frequently. Puts pressure on kickers, and can pass. I also wish he would develop an offload, hopefully the new coach will encourage this. With the lack of props on the market i definitely wouldn’t be getting rid of one of ours on the up. Hunt I’m not sure, he’s never going to dominate, never really has. With the right partner/coach he could be a really good player but I don’t have confidence in him single handedly steering a ship if say the 5/8 goes off injured etc.

Lawrie is still developing but I also think the team has asked a lot of him, possibly more than he’s capable of producing right now. With Vaughan out for 4 weeks he’s expected to be a starter & dominate against other starting front rows. He’s better off the bench. Perhaps he’ll be a starter one day but not right now.

You make a good point about the expectation placed on him. Vaughan has really dropped the ball figuratively this year, though Lawrie has played at least 50 games by now so you start to expect more from a player.

We have one starter in our whole squad which is Vaughan, who’s out. Ideally you need a balance of hardened veterans and young guys. It’s hard to lead a pack at 23 years old, very few could.

Ravalawa’s try tonight was absolutely awesome along with Lomax’s no look pass. That was real quality. All the other stuff just comes down to coaching & Rava has already shown he wants to improve his game.

Yes and that’s my main knock on him, along with many other players brought in. Lack of improvement. I would put a fair bit of this down to the coaching situation to be fair. Seems to happen with too many players. In my view, Host, Lawrie, Aitken and even Dufty (notwithstanding his good run of form this year) were all playing better football when coming onto the scene. Lomax, maybe Rav, Clune and Air Jordan but very few others have bucked that trend on Mary’s watch. I’d also throw in some established players too. Good form has deserted Vaughan, Frizzell and Sims over the past two years.

I think to be honest a lot of senior players mentally checked out months ago when it became obvious that Mary was going to be sacked. I was told Mary lost the dressing room & I believe that to be true. Now there’s nothing to play for, aside from Jacob Host everyone has contracts for 2021 so other than pride in the jersey there’s nothing to play for. We’d be lost without McInnes leading the way & leading by example.

We let James Graham go & didn’t replace him, we’ve been without Jack de Belin for 2yrs & we never replaced him either. Vaughan has lost the plot, the Sims brothers have had a terrible year with injury at some point lack of depth catches up with you. Signing a Penrith reserve grader was never going balance the scales.

I still don't understand what this fascination with signing rookie coaches, as Craig Ftizgibbon was targeted by the Dragons and botched it by trying to go behind GOD Politis/Roosters back. Now the F ER CF doesn't even want to come to our Basket Case Club(CF Thinking), there is still a push for Dean Young.
I have a very very simplistic solution to this f**king saga, sign up Shaun Wane for 3 years with Dean Young as assistant and when the time is right 3 6 9 years depending on the level of success WANE has, then Dean Young can take over!

That article in the SMH makes it sound like a cluster f##k that only our club could manufacture. Dean Young is not the one ,same sh*t different day he says and he’s correct. Norman not dropped , fresh interchange player bought on with two minutes to go. Griffin, there’s enough been written about his past to cause alarm bells to go off. That leaves Furner by default and his track record is not that good. As the article says Fitzgibbon doesn’t want to come to a club that is a shambles and I’d say he’s not alone. Mediocrity is our moto, we rarely achieve it is our aim.

One of my concerns right now is that we're going to use the excuse "oh we did okay in the end after starting the shortened season 0/4. Let's give Dean Young a go in 2021 and see how things pan out".

Great to see Dean's mate, Andrew Webster is still flogging the dead horse in this morning's article. Webster even made comparisons between Young and Bennett in the article!

The fact that after his same shit different day quote, Dean went on to say the players competed hard for the 80 mins like he wanted them to.

What kind of fantasy does he live in? If the players were trying we would've won by 30 at least. No disrespect to the Cowboys but they have a lot of injuries and their defense has been as soft as butter in recent weeks, if we had a coach worth his salt we would've won that game comfortably.

Dean must consider competing with bottom sides as a big positive in his mind.

I'm done with frauds like him and Mary impersonating coach's and then having their mates in the media back them up with blatant crap to try and shove down us supporter's throats.

Let's get Griffin in now to improve our team and clean out this toxic culture of nepotism between players, coach, board and media.
