Dragons Coach For 2014

Brian Smith would be a sensational coach for the Dragons. Allready got the red and whites to 2 grand finals unfortunately for him he lost both to W.Bennett and the QLD Origin team. The Dragons then were no way near as strong as they are now. Got the Roosters to a Grand FInal and lost to W.Bennett. He can't be that bad a coach.....

Brian Smith or Sheens would be sensational choices to move the club forward. Browny next best.

Folkes got the Dogs a spoon why would you want that.

Good that Price is not a sure thing and as Fire mentioned above it will make him take risks to prove himself. If he does and is successful good luck to him. He has been given his chance by the Dragons. it's up to him how he takes it. Last year was a complete disaster. Worst I have seen them play in years.....

Personally i would love to see Brian Smith back, however with his history of being Craig Youngs replacement when he was booted i think it is highly unlikely unless Young was also to go.

DTD, I do think there's a degree of difference between getting smashed 0-40 in a GF without Cameron Smith and getting smashed 4-40 by Huddersfield. When you're St Helens.

Browny gave everything for St George. But I don't think he's a coach who's going to offer us much in terms of developing a fairly ordinary roster and attracting high calibre recruits.

It's easier to make a case that Bellamy would have done those things.

I was just making the point that Browny was being unfairly crucified for one loss.
Agreed, there's no comparison between the 2 in terms of their pulling power. But we've come up short in our pursuit on what was the best option, and in my view Browny should be next in line, if we're looking for a longer term alternative to Price.
The others listed in the Telecrap article don't raise hopes of attracting any better talent than Brown would.
And yes we know he bleeds Red and White.

I honestly think that Brian Smith is one of the best coaches out there when it comes to getting an under rated team to perform to it's peak. The only concern is he seems to have a used by date of a few years at each club and it can all crumble very quickly.

Which is why i wouldn't want him back.Sheens and Smith are past their use by date ,though i think they would be useful as an assistant like the role Folkes plays.

I have always given everyone at our club the benefit of the doubt...I have always stuck by Doust... Not now! Why oh why would he appoint price in the first place.. I thought the option of getting Bellamy to doust was just worth going for but now it's clear that price was never going to get a good shake at the top spot! We have now wasted 2-4 years of stupid "rebuilding" when we could have contended for each season?

I truly think that with what we have this year we could contend but how are the players and coach suppose to get up week in week out knowing how unstable the club is....

This is the saints.... We should be a rock in the comp but we are starting get a bit wispy washy about who we are...

Sorry it's time to go doust! Before anymore damage is done!

I think Smith would be excellent in a coaching directors role similar to Gould at the Panthers. He has a brilliant rugby league brain i feel.

The way that Brian Smith got the Parramatta Eels to perform in the season 2001 that was as dominant a football team in a season as I have ever seen all bar the last game in the grand final against the Knights where they lost.

I'd like to see Pricey with the same style of roster as Bennett had, and not with mass retirements pending. Spend some money on decent players and see how he goes then. IMHO Price has been given a job with no help at all from the club. have a look at our buys this season. the bloke has beeen set up to fail. A lovely thankyou for years of quality service. Business as usual from our management.Don't I just love 'em.

Wrong Smith, better option would be Tony Smith (younger brother of Brian) he has won the championship with Leeds club in UK super league and current warrington wolves head coach. He has also been the England coach and has played for both the dragons & steelers. This Mr Smith has the pedigree and lengthy experience earned in the UK.

Hogwash,Doust was upfront with Price about Bellamy. The club planned on getting Bellamy who would have attracted quality additions to the squad, what was wrong with that, the club aiming high. How is that instability.
It is not to be and the club continues to plan.In the meantime Price has the team knowing where he stands.

Do you remember the last time Tony Smith was associated with the Dragons?

I think we need to move to someone with more NRL experience. I know there isn't much choice, and I dont have many ideas myself. But for god sake our H/O needs to pull their fingers out and start getting some deals across the line.

if Smith got the job in 2014 then we would be having the same coaching discussion as we are now in 2016.

Really smith is a failure... He just can't get it accros the line, but has a good footy brain.. I do like the idea of him as a coaching director though

I'd agree with that statement, so offer a two year contract with an option in favour of the Club to extend. Smith has shown an ability to fire up a side n the first year or two and then fall away.

I personally would like price to be given a fair crack up to the soo and I think that's what will happen. If he failsand gets the tap on the shoulder for 2014 I would probably pick Sheens (not that I like him) but he did have the respect of the tigers players and even though he didn't fair well the tigers didnt have great sides like we've had. Smith is a d##khead and a lot of players end up hating him which says it all.

1. Price
2. Sheens
3. Brown
4. Rod reddy lol
