Actually decsion have been made knowing full well that we could arrive in this position.

We did not chase McGuire when he was clearly the best coach available to follow Bennett.
We did not chase Potter who I believe he is ready for the NRL andwill do well this year with a weakend Tigers squad.
We did not approach Brown who is much more experienced these days.
We did not look to Smith who is a good two year option.
We have not approached Sheens who clearly has the experience and skills to get us through 2013 with an option for beyond.

It seems to me that if we miss Bellamy, for 2013 it will be Price and if he failes, then Folkes will get a go. For 2014, who knows whats on Doust's mind.

I disagree hindsight is a wonderful thing price beat McGuire in the wcc and charity shield and there was not much complaints then and all the other coaches you mention where coaching other teams except Folkes and he was employed by price himself

I feel that News Ltd will win the race for Bellamy to remain at the Storm for a motza. The Dragons really need to look at the very next best high profile coaching options to help attract some talent in the top end of signings. The club was prepared to pay out $1.2m per year for a 5 year term. For this type of money you can possibly get 2 coaches on $600,000 each per season. Why not go hard for TIM SHEENS as Director of Coaching & Recruitment. Go hard to poach MAL MENINGA as head coach with his skills in man management and a very larger than life profile and respected in the game. Assistant coaches could be Dean Young & Ben Hornby working under the guidance of Sheens as director. I am sure the financial package could be very attractive in securing a double act high profile coaching structure to take the dragons forward.

Unfortunately we don't have a state of origin squad that will make Mal look good.

Tim Sheens? Why why why? Have a look at the tigers "recruiting" the past three years. Average his 600 plus games with finals wins and premierships, it doesnt make for pleasant reading. How he is Australian coach has got me f**ked.

Meninga is a joke. He is the face of the QLD team but he is no coach. Have a look at his record with Canberra, hell even his world record political career. Great player, but the dude is a flip.

Mate the biggest problem we have had over the years with Brown and Price is that they are too young, and too close to the players. It rarely works out that someone you worked alongside is now giving you orders and you have to bust a gut for them. Young and Hornby? No no no

Price never played football with these guys so I think this is irrelevant

Apparantly the Storm offer for approx. 10m is true howver, there are some strings attached;

The deal is for 6 years not 5 years and Bellamy is not keen on another 6 years.
There is a performance clause which, if not met, drastically reduces the payment.
The new owners want a $3m reduction in the purchase price of the Storm. Apparantly Bellamy is currently on about 500k pa and this price reduction is to offset what is effectively a large increase in running costs..

So we still have a good chance of bringing Bellamy to the Dragons.

Well they've certainly upped the ante. Couldn't imagine those type of conditions being placed on Wayne Bennett. Craig Bellamy also seems like a fairly independant type of person, so I wouldn't think conditions and clauses with performance indicators would go down that well. Additionally its pretty unreasonable to expect a team to do well every year with the salarycap, you get penalised for being successfull as we all know.

So if your info is close to the mark Possm, I agree we are still a chance.

I didnt mean played alongside them. He was an assistant for years and got the job before his time. Yes he served a good length apprenticeship unlike Brown, but is 35. His best work seemed to be with the younger kids in 20s (he coached Nightingale and Morris etc) so I have no problem with him coaching us, just imo he shouldve gone and learnt his first grade trade at another club.

Seriously? Nah mate its a huge problem and that will yet again be proven, especially when we are 0 from first 6 games. Which is a distinct possibility. Once that happens the season is all over. Speculation will start about price, fans will be blowing up, crowds will be terrible... And price is the man you think can pull us out of that.
I admire your optismism (as blinded as it may be).

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be too negative... But the above is to prove my point that we need an experienced leader at the club. I know Doust realised this because of his pursuit of Bellamy. But will miss out him then we acknowledge we have a coach without much faith in him.

All these figures ($6 mil, $6.5 mil, $10 mil, $20 mil), where are they coming from? I have not seen anything "official" from any person or any club. Is it just paper talk or forum talk? I think it is. Neither club has released anything official.

99% of the crap on here is just invented to make a good story. If Bellamy comes to the Dragons or stays with the Cheaters, I bet no figures will be released even then.

All I said is Price didn't play with the current crop of players, what are you on about? You don't want to be too negative yet you're bring up the worst case scenario of 0 and 6? Imagine if you were being negative.
