"When we are 0-6" ....... I am sick of reading crap like that! Okay you think we will struggle this year, I think we will contend in the finals! But come on, that's just pathetic support of your team!

Either way, unfortunately, Price will only tread water for 2013.
He is on a hiding to nothing and his only saviour will be to get the Dragons performing strong...the sooner the better

I see your point but IMO he will be doing anything but tread water... He wants a career in the nrl and this is his year to show why so many have huge raps on him! ... He wasn't put in charge because he is a chump like a lot on this forum think..

He has a decent side this year, compared to last with a half back retiring a year to late, yang playing with no knees, no fullback, his best front rower missing most of the season, and some discipline problems with a couple of the younger boys!

Okay, he will see some problems this year too, but I can't see a repeat of the horror from last season!

All these figures ($6 mil, $6.5 mil, $10 mil, $20 mil), where are they coming from? I have not seen anything "official" from any person or any club. Is it just paper talk or forum talk? I think it is. Neither club has released anything official.

99% of the crap on here is just invented to make a good story. If Bellamy comes to the Dragons or stays with the Cheaters, I bet no figures will be released even then.

A realistic assessment of the current situation, so on this post, we are in agreement. However, there are some facts that have been acknowledged by the Clubs involved.

The Melbourne CEO has confirmed the Dragons have made a sizable offer to Bellamy and that the Storm are working through this and are confident of retaining him as coach. So really, whether the offer is 4m, 5m or 6m over 4, 5 or 6 years does not really matter. At least the Club and the term of Bellamy's next contract is likely to be announced.

Doust, Price and some players have made comment regarding the possiblity of Bellamy joining the Dragons. This is confirmation enough that an offer has been made.

Niether Club has denied the fact that the Dreagons have made a sizable offer to Bellamy.

Bellamy himself has confirmed receiving an offer from the Dragons and that the chances of him accepting the Dragons offer is 50/50.

Historically, the size of offers to players and coaches has seldom been made public however, it would be safe to say that the 5-6m published offer is close to the mark - mainly because it has been quoted by a wide variety of sources and not denied by the Clubs involved or Bellamy himself.

I have a wide circle of friends who have contact within our Club. We have regular discussion on Club matters - from a supporters level and really cannot be completely relied upon on matters so closely guarded. However, on many occasions the mail has been very close to the mark and on a few occasions it has been wrong. On this occasion I believe Bellamy is keeping things very close to his chest and any third party comments are purely best guess.

Anyway, good post and let's hope we get an announcement this week.

Gee thanks. Something positive from Mr Negative!

Credit where credit due.

My main 'negative' comments have been posted about:

Price - from about halfway through last year; performance/recruitment, called for his repacement, failure to share game time with Hornby/Kyle last year, fullback selections.
Doust - mainly judgement/decisions made - Bennett, recruitment, cash/cap.
Prior - onfield decisions, ball control.
Vidot - ball control, diciplin.
Hornby - Some on-field decsiions, lack of form last year.

I really don't see these as 'negatives'. I see them as facts that limited the performance of our team in 2012 and/or potentially our squad in 2013.

Factual history for 2012:
Doust has moved to replace Price.
Hornby did retire early.
Prior did have problems with ball control and on-field decision making.
Vidot did improve last year but still had problems with ball control and dicipin for most of 2012.
Rumour not fact - Doust is said to be seeking to move from CEO to a senior Club directorship position.

I would be delighted if proven wrong for 2013 and I have one prediction for this year;

If Bellamy is recruited for 2014, our team will make the final 4 this year. I say this because every player will want to perform at his best knowing Bellamy is on his way.

In 2011 second half of the season, it seems to me that the players did not feel that they needed to impress Price for season 2012.

Johnny time for a reality check on Price methinks. Ask yourself this, "how many coaches in the first year of their contract become aware that their club is actively seeking another coach". And then ask yourself why did that happen? Was it because of all the anti Price rhetoric on here? No, Price is on the outer with the club based solely on his sub standard performance, due to poor decision making, lack of creatively, aloofness with the players, and a glaring non acceptance of reality.

Price's appointment was a massive mistake. The club realised that and actively entered the market for a replacement by the third quarter of last year. Sprouting slogans like "give the bloke a go" have no place in a cut throat business like the NRL. Price's fate has already been sealed irrespective of Bellamy's decision. Were any top notch coaches available now, Price would already be gone.

We all hope the Dragons have an outstanding year, this year. So called expert and public opinion sadly is to the contrary. The Club needed to act and therefore took unprecedented action. We all support the Dragons first and foremost. Price sadly, is a distant second and on borrowed time.

So can Price turn it all around? Time will tell. In the mean time I think we need to prepare ourselves for a very rough ride during 2013 and look forward to hopefully a brighter future in 2014.

I really think that the chase for Bellamy was more of a case of going hard for one of the best coaches who is coming off contract as these days it is proven that a topline coach can bring instant success. They attract better players at a better price and therefore can squeeze in more talent under the cap. I don't think it's the case that the Dragons have no faith in Price but they are just chasing opportunity, just my thoughts.

Ok Minh let us pursue your point a little further. I am a little puzzled with the logic of your argument.

So we have a newly appointed rookie coach in Price, hell bent on a long term coaching career with the Dragons, who may well turn out to be another Wayne Bennet, and the club expresses it's faith in him, by seeking to replace him?

Had we been going gangbusters last season with Price perceived as doing an outstanding job, would the club have still pursued Bellamy? What sort of loyalty would that be?

If Price had a massive first season top 4 I'm sure we would have stuck with him without making a play for Bellamy this would be highly likely. Like with any well run club you always try and put yourself in with the best chance to win premierships, but I still think it's a case of chance where the best coach was available more than Price being incompetent again just my thoughts.

Not knocking you Minh, just the analogy of your thoughts. If Price was top shelf material, producing the goods week in week out, the club would have no need to go shopping elsewhere. He didn't and they did.
