But not quite as special as 1956 to 1966 methinks!! :D

A very special time in our Club's history. A proud and happy era for all Dragons supporters. Those games of the week at the SCG and home games at Kograh were very special indeed. Those days when the Taj was the envy of every other club in the league.

The latest gossip (and I reiterate gossip) I heard at the weekend at Mudgee (from an ex steelers player) was we are very close to signing Bellyache. Not only does he want to be closer to his mother, but apparently his wife hates Melbourne. Take it with a grain of salt, but I thought I would post it for you.

Finally worked it out guys.
We have signed Bellamy after all.
Only problem is - its Mrs Bellamy.
Some here may suggest she'll do better than our incumbent.

I feel it's like selling our soul to the devil.
You are right about 2010 though, it was awesome. I'll never forget it. Got the ink to remind me.
I respect your views on Bellamy and the tactics he has bought into the game.It is up to the NRL to have the refs act on unfair acts on the field.
However,it takes a special coach to bring something new to the game and for all other coaches to adopt .He also brings consistency to the Storms game which is what Bennett bought to us and we all enjoyed the fact that we would go to a Dragons game and knew our team would be hard to beat.
The club is trying to bring the best coach in the NRL to us which says our club is hungry for more success ,this makes me excited. If it doesn't eventuate ,so be it.We will still be competitive.

At 71yo I remember it all. Meeting your mates at the overcrowded Bat & Ball to have a few beers before the game & then taking a 6 pack of silver bullets over to the SCC to watch the game. The SCC was virtually our home ground as we would be the match of the day most weeks.
We all knew that the tean would put in 100% each game & we usually came away very happy, then went back to the pub.
All I ask is that our current team also gives us & our coach 100% effort & if they do I believe that we will suprise a lot of people, especially the Sharks fans who think they are specials this year.
If Bellamy arrives it would be great however if not we should support Price & the boys to have a good year. Up the mighty Dragons

Well said, I hope most members read your post.

I hope Price really does well and the team is successful this year. I always hope the team is successful.

You can see when the players are playing to a good game plan and when they are giving 100%. However, when you see below standard performances, I think all fans have a right to comment accordingly.

+1 l want the dragon's to build a dynasty like we have done in the past. I was not around in those days but I remember the 70's with fondness. A lot say price is too young but I think its a benefit not a weakness. If bellamy does come it would be for five years at tops then we will be back in the same position we are now I don't like losing any more then the next bloke but I'm prepared to give him a chance to find his feet. I believe in Steve and when everything clicks we will have a great long-term coach who loves the club and can build something special like Bennett did for Brisbane, not a coach who is coming to line his pockets and retire

Gee its good to have some positive posts instead of all the gloom & doom before the season starts. I agree with Possum that if things are not going as you would like, post & say what you think but have constructive comments instead of sacking the coach or other officials.
I still think we have a better roster than last year & if I consider that a player has had a shocker I will say so. But I will not bag everyone just because we had a loss.
Have a good & successful season boys as I am sure the REDV members are right behind you.

Possm a few corrections required. In those days we were known as "SAINTS" supporters, and thus used to sing "WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN". The SCG saturday game was called the "Match of the Day" and mostly featured us. The Taj was preceded by the original club a few doors up from St Patricks Church on the Princess Highway.

Welcome aboard karuah6 it is nice to have another youngster around here, LOL. :D

The tender age members on here that did not experience what we did, really missed something very special in the history of our great club. The like of which, will never be seen again.

That has been my point all along, and as you said matey if the guys put in 100% we will be in for a very good year indeed!....

Good to see more actual supporters on here and hopefully we can outnumber the doomsayers..

I remember the banner on the old Taj after each grandfinal."When the Saints come marching home". What great memories.
Our halves will go ok with the additions we have to our pack and I am happy with the backline whoever plays right centre.
Doomsayers are not true Saint supporters and are a minority in our club therefore they are well and truely covered.
Ask Saints plays what it feels like when they put on the REDV. It is the same feeling true supporters have when they see the team on the field.
The word is PROUD :):):):)
