You obviously don't watch much footy do you? Boyd didn't play like a traditional fullback but was the lynchpin of much of our attack...we didn't care how many tries he scored when he kept setting them up.

Probably what counted when he was rated as the player of the year by his peers.

But I am a Cronulla supporting fool....look, he only scored two tries...oh, Tim Sheens picked his club winger instead...!

Morons...

so you are crying because a winger got picked to play wing over a fullback who can't score try's???

Boyd played winger in State of Origin this year - top try scorer with 3 tries from 3 games. He knows how to find the line when employed that way.

As mentioned above he plays a different role from fullback for the Dragons, more like a second 5/8 playing on the other side of the ruck. That, plus his key job in returning the ball and beating the defensive line were pretty key in the success of the Dragons over the last 2 years. Ultimately more important than individual tries.

Not too fussed he did not get picked on the wing for Australia but if based only on his SOO perfromance it would be hard to argue he does not deserve it.

Another myth about Boyd. Kick return metres . 4 fullbacks ahead of him despite them playing less games. Somebody like Gardner is only 100m etres off him with nearly 8 less games.
Cant score, cant run the ball back. What else?

Sorry you can't keep up but I was actually sarcastically pointing out comments made by your supporters that Boyd mustn't be the clearly outstanding player he is because he got overlooked for the wing spot against PNG.

I really couldn't give a flying proverbial if any of our players play during the Four Nations.

Anyone who knows anything about the game knows the huge importance of the role Boyd played in us winning the comp and his achievements were acknowledged this year by a broad cross section of the rugby league community. Pithy statements like he only scored two tries or he was overlooked for a wing spot only reflects an ignorance of the game.

We understand how difficult it must be for you to all see the big brother go on to glory again whilst your club lurches from one spoon to another with bankruptcy always on the horizon.

I think Boyd is an above average player. Not rep standard though or anywhere near it. His plaudits have got it very wrong. He is not a game breaker by any means. He would be un noticeable in a Sharks outfit, Raiders team, Titans team etc etc.
Slater or Gardner or Coote on the other hand???hmmmm. Dugan anybody? Hayne? Please. He is really lucky to be in the top 10 fullbacks in the game.
The "huge importance" you speak of has more to do with luck.
Lucky you havent been busted for rorting the cap.
Lucky the best players in the game were not allowed to compete in the comp(ASterix)
Lucky it was a weak competition all round this year with many teams just passengers by the time the finals appeared.
Lucky the refs didnt mind your 2nd marker being offside all game, every game.

St Jubbsy .... oh learned one.

Can you please inform the punters in here, sorry can you speak onbehalf of the hundreds you are authorised to speak for by your use of "WE" how many spoons the mighty sharks have 'won' and the last time we 'won' one. Spoon that is.

I'm interested to know.

I just have a hunch that we have not won one in the few years since your recent club was born.

Cheers

I do apologise...I must admit you are experts in scraping into second or third last!

So we are hopeless and only won the comp through various injustices but we are also cheating the cap?! Wow....the logic gets better and better.

Boyd not in the ten best fullbacks in the comp...LOL...! Do you wear a tin foil hat? Live in a bunker? How on Earth has the world conspired to bestow on Boyd all of these honours when he is such a clearly hopeless footballer- I mean he only scored two tries!

IMO ,every year the Churchill medal gets less prestigous with incorrect selections by bias/drunk/blind/gambling idiots.

yes.. but reefy, the important thing is that to win the CC medal, you need to participate in a (officially sanctioned) grand final..

The big thing is this.
Darius Boyd. 2010 played 25, trys 2

haha. Geezus

Luke Covell, Knee reconstruction same year, games played 13, Trys 5

see, the bigger thing is this...

darius boyd, 2010 played 25, tries 2, PREMIERSHIPS 1

Luke Covell, Knee reconstruction same year, games played 13, tries 5, premierships 0

Good question. How many the Steelers get? I know St George got three.

EDIT - 3 as well. 16 Premierships and 6 spoons if you count it that way. If not. 1 Premiership. Yep. This years premiership, The one that matters!
