Mbye has been the new Norman since his arrival. I’d much prefer some faith show in Liddle & Mbye being the utility for injuries etc. Griffin still hasn’t learned a thing.Mbye starting is not a great selection. It’s not as if he’s a Mitch Kenny type who’s a great defender and takes the initial heavy lifting on in defence. He’s an absolute pushover in the middle, we could get rolled.
I don't mind this if it plays out as per selection. What is the point of signing a specialist hooker but instead selecting a utility as hooker. FMD.
Yes hook could change the team before kick off and we could see Liddle starting. But hook does have his pets and Mbye is one of them, we can all probably make a pretty good educated guess that Liddle won’t start come Sunday. No one thought Liddle would play 80, but no one thought he wouldn’t start. The fact Mbye’s been selected to start is just ludicrous, it makes zero sense.Re Mybe / Liddle
Liddle was never going to play 80 and the Amone fiasco always meant Mybe would be selected for this game.
How about we wait until Sunday to see who starts at 9 as there is no guarantee that Liddle won’t and Mybeceoukd have to take the forks at some point.
The selected 17 is about the best outcome you could get all things considered.
Totally agree. However it does indicate we will be playing Dragonball (5 hit ups and kick on 6) for the first 20 minutes.I don't mind this if it plays out as per selection.
A bit like Harry Grant coming on after 20mins for Australia. Liddel is fast and could make a real impact against tired starting props. After 20, Mbye goes to the bench and provides cover for injuries.
We make the most of Mbye's versitilty and Liddel's speed.
pretty sure that was always going to be the caseTotally agree. However it does indicate we will be playing Dragonball (5 hit ups and kick on 6) for the first 20 minutes.
In short…yes…if you’re the coach and you’re going to get fired based off the amount of games you lose, then why wouldn’t you not want to pick your best team if they’re available?Pretty Pathetic that both F. Molo & Amone have been named in the team (albeit the latter on an extended bench) what message is this sending? It's ok to the wrong thing put the club in jeopardy and still get picked no worries? Is the coach that desperate to save his job he will pick players regardless of what has happened off the field.
Hooray no Woods.Well some big omissions here.
1. Sloan
2. Feigai
3. Lomax
4. Suli
5. Rav
6. Sullivan
7. Hunt
8. F Molo
9. Mbye
10. Lawrie
11. Murdoch - Masila
12. Su'a
13. Bird
14. Liddle
15. Musgrove
16. Couchman
17. M Molo
Woods, Kerr, Burns, Moga and some others I'd say are on the outer and won't be with us next year. Use of the young guys regularly this year will help with their development and experience. Just need a couple of really good signings to replace the rejects to blend in with our rising juniors is all we need.Great to see young Coachman in the 17.
Max Feagai not far away either.
Good to see Woods/Kerr & Burns, Moga outside the 17. They were poor in the trials.
Hopefully we will see Ryan Coachman play some first grade in the second half of the season.
Mbye is bad…but he’s nowhere near as bad as Norman.Mbye has been the new Norman since his arrival. I’d much prefer some faith show in Liddle & Mbye being the utility for injuries etc. Griffin still hasn’t learned a thing.
And that right there is the problem with the dragons...every year we say the same thing...but what happens? We keep the dead wood and sign more dead wood instead of going after well established top tier players...then let our promising juniors go without giving them a go...this is the reason why we are up shit creek atmWoods, Kerr, Burns, Moga and some others I'd say are on the outer and won't be with us next year. Strength and conditioning will play a big part in any success we have this year.
Another fine example being the recruitment of a certain Paul Turner so what happens now is that we are once again paying overs for a NSW Cup playerAnd that right there is the problem with the dragons...every year we say the same thing...but what happens? R&W you are legitimately one of my favourite posters on here and I get what you are saying but again this just sends a really poor message hey do what you want perform how you want and you'll be picked anyways if the coach were serious he'd think long term and send message to all players Rava, Musgrove, Amone, & Molo should all be playing reserves to send a message to the playing group don't screw around or you'll be dropped. Sure it would more than likely mean a loss to GC but short term pain for long term gain no wonder our culture is toxic AF.In short…yes…if you’re the coach and you’re going to get fired based off the amount of games you lose, then why wouldn’t you not want to pick your best team if they’re available?
