How is it you know the Pearce Family are over it??

And I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that they have not fogiven him, no one would forgive a person who does this sort of thing to his Daughter or Sister...

I know I sure as hell wouldn't...

IF what was alleged to have happened actually happened, then yes, I agree with you BUT Craigs side of the incident was NEVER made public and IF he was the only one at fault I' sure Wayne Pearce would have had charges laid quicker than you could say WTF! Let's leave this where it belongs, in the past....

All is good Dave.. No ofence taken mate...

I don't take this net stuff seriously..

Good luck this weekend, Well not to much luck ;) lol...

Cheers,

I think one of the things about Gowie is that these incidents are extremely difficult baggage for him personally and will follow him for years to come after his playing career is over.

We might condemn or joke about it but he will be directly effected and adversely so.

A lot of Panther people were put out themselves but it essentially was "family business."

The Panther LU management were pretty fair and mature about it all.

Anyway, thats all for another time.

From a footballing perspective.. he's done the business and this could be his last golden time and thus I would embrace the good and positives out of it.

And no serious observer of our game could suggest that he cant be classed amongst the greatest players of all time.

Just chockers full of skills in all departments and he would train the house down.

He was born with talent and then he multiplied that about 10 times with his application and commitment. Never lazy, I heard he would do extra's most times and knowing a player, they already work pretty hard.

Its a drive that you dont see often.

I havent seen it in a souths player in my lifetime. Not at the same standard.

And he's managed to keep solid and exciting players like Craig Trindall out of first grade for years.

As you can see I cant speak highly enough of him.

If I wasnt busy this weekend ( including the rabbitoh match) I'd be there for sure.

But Ive seen him play a few times.

Once I saw him at Aussie, 2004 or 2005 I think, he was so badly injured he couldnt tackle and in defence he hung out on the wing.

But he threw the most tremendous passes and kicked so well, you might not have noticed.

He was playing at 75% and he was dominating the game. It was Gowie. He smashed us.

I'm sorry Souths lost, but at least I took Gowies game out of the park with me. So for mine, the loss was tempered or made less awful by having witnessed Gowies excellence.

And I'll never forget it.

And I think that at the end of the day, when its all done and dusted, this is what his last game is all about.

And the tears shed by the fans when he does his lap of honour are way of expressing their sense of loss and respect for his footballing.

And his tears will be a way of thanking his fans and supporters.

It will be a very emotional, moving and touching experience for all concerned.

I cant speak for them, but that may go some way in explaining why the usually freedom-loving Panther LU management want us to think just a smidgeon before we post (just for once!!).

Ozbash is a decent guy, if he considerd the matter a touch more, I am hoping that he will understand the significance of this week to a lot of people.

dave knows..

when stacey jones left the warriors, that was a champion leaving. And, he didnt turn his back on the fans or the code. He stayed with league and still repped his country.

If stace got up to the mischief gower is "alleged" to have got up to, he wouldnt be welcome .

these bloody prissy panther mods should take off the rose coloured glasses, get your heads out of the sand and accept gower for what he is, a disgrace to the code of rugby league.

Go the MIGHTY WARRIORS

OZBASH,
And whose club currently has a player, just recently, CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT? A step up from what Gower got. Gower's was alledged with NO POLICE INVOLVED. Here is the link/article below on the current club whose player HAS BEEN CHARGED BY POLICE FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTING A FEMALE AFTER AN AWAY GAME IN SYDNEY against the Roosters in case you have forgotten or you have been hiding in a cupboard, waiting for the right time to come out? Be wary of throwing stones in a glass house, especially when ONE OF YOUR OWN has been charged by police, not by the media or the public.

Warrior charged with sexual assault
| Tuesday, 14 August 2007

New Zealand Warriors rugby league winger Michael Crockett has been charged with sexual assault following an alleged incident in Sydney on August 6.

The investigation stemmed from a woman's complaint of sexual assault to Redfern police.

Crockett, 24, who said last week he strenuously denied the allegation, flew to Sydney yesterday to be formally charged before being released on bail.

Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said there would be no further comment from the club because the matter was now before the courts.

Crockett was expected to return to training with the Warriors this afternoon in preparation for Saturday's away match against the Canberra Raiders.

In consultation with coach Ivan Cleary, Crockett was withdrawn from the starting lineup in last Sunday's 30-6 win over the Gold Coast Titans at Auckland and subsequently replaced by Patrick Ah Van.

Crockett was in Sydney with the Warriors side who drew 31-all with the Sydney Roosters hours before the alleged incident.

The club had helped him get legal advice.

"Michael is certain he has done nothing wrong and he will be defending any allegation made against him," Scurrah said last week.

Scurrah declined to comment on the nature or the severity of the allegation, saying it was under investigation and there were also privacy issues.

He described Crockett as an invaluable player on and off the field and who had never given the club any reason to question his character.

Crockett joined the Warriors in the off-season from the Wests Tigers and made an impressive start for his new club, scoring four tries in the first two rounds.

Since then, he has spent stints on the sidelines because of injury and a two-week ban for a high tackle.

gower didnt belt someone at a night club this year whilst in a drunken state ?

yep, fine speciman.

wasteing your time trying to throw it back on the warriors sport. If Crockett is convicted on his charge, his feet wont touch the ground, he'll be thrown out that fast.
the warriors wont try and hide/protect him from the police or courts.

First of all, get her name right, Amanda is Craig's wife, second of all..you were there to witness these alleged events then were you???? As I have said, Craigs side has NEVER been made public and I'm sure IF he did anything to Wayne Pearces daughter he would have had him charged quick smart....When you have ALL THE FACTS not the media fictional version, then come back here and dribble on....

Any charges laid? NOPE, just convicted by the media, Dawn Fraser and the general public WHO ONLY READ what they want to read and believe what they want to believe.

Show us all the proof of what he did to Miss Pearce? Her word against his - even the person who organised the charity night, said the incidents alledged were blown out of proportion. NO police involvement, therefore no charges. As for the club punishing him, that was for BRINGING THE CLUB INTO DISREPUTE. As to how that came about, no-one except Gower, his manager, his family and the club will ever know.
Show us the proof of him assaulting anyone at the nightclub? Videos show nothing, hence why police did not charge him - END OF STORY.

Gower was not charged for any of the allegations made against him this year, last year or any other year.

Gowie is the greatest ambassador of the game we have ever known. A true gentleman of the code, Gowie has given young hopefuls a role model to look up to.

So dedicated is he to League's cause, that now, he has chosen to 'take one for the team' and head abroad to f*ck up the inferior code of Union.

Good bye sweet prince.

Oh... and as for Crockett, he might not be a KIWI by nationality, but he is a NEW ZEALAND WARRIOR player, which makes him one of yours (considering that's who you support). I didn't bring his nationality into it, you did - I was talking about who he plays for.

Gower demoted after drunken binge

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/rugby_league/international_and_australian/4579992.stm

Craig Gower has been sacked as captain of the Penrith Panthers after being found guilty of misconduct after a series of alcohol-related incidents.
The 27-year-old received the punishment after allegations that arose from a charity golf event on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
He was alleged to have groped the daughter of former international Wayne Pearce and threatened Pearce's son.
Gower also received a £42,000 fine, £30,000 of which was suspended.
The decision to punish Gower came during a three-hour meeting between the player and the club's board on Wednesday.
"In taking these decisions, the board has considered Craig's exemplary conduct on the field and his genuine commitment to our community over the years," said a statement issued on behalf of Penrith chairman Barry Walsh.
"Nevertheless, his actions on the Sunshine Coast caused distress to a number of people and damaged our club, our game and the National Rugby League."
The incidents took place at a function during the Jack Newton Celebrity Golf Classic just before Christmas, which was used by Gower as part of his stag do.
Gower, who was once a target for Super League side Salford, was also alleged to have held a butter knife to the throat of a Sydney radio personality, damaged a golf cart and walked naked around the Twin Waters Resort.
The Australian half back, who was a member of the Kangaroo side beaten 24-0 by New Zealand in the Tri-Nations final in Leeds last November, has already apologised "unreservedly" to Pearce's family.
Broken curfew
Gower's fine of £42,000 is around a quarter of his salary.
However two-thirds of the fine is suspended provided there are no further incidents and provided Gower "seeks counselling concerning the responsible use of alcohol and off-field behaviour".
Six years ago, Gower was sacked from the Kangaroos after exposing himself to a tourist in Sydney. In 2004 he was fined after breaking curfew at the New South Wales State of Origin camp.

Gower under police investigation
http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/411317/990192

Penrith's bid to close the book on the Craig Gower nightclub drama hit a major stumbling block on Wednesday when police launched an official investigation into the incident.
While Panthers officials continue to stand by Gower's claims  that he did not instigate any brawls at the Peppermint Lounge nightclub in Sydney's eastern suburbs, police became involved in the incident on Wednesday after an official complaint was made.
"Two men went down to Marrickville police station last night where they supplied statements to the police," a police spokesperson said.
"That matter has now been forwarded to Kings Cross police station because obviously that is where the alleged incident occurred and it is currently under investigation."
The incident is believed to be separate to allegations that Gower kissed and bit another man on the dance floor.
According to a News Ltd report, 19-year-old Bshar Hassen claimed Gower grabbed him around the waist in a move which felt like a tackle before the two of them fell to the couch in a scuffle.
But Penrith officials remain adamant that their man did nothing wrong, a viewing of the nightclub's closed circuit television footage today only strengthening their resolve.

1999
Gower has been in hot water for a series of alcohol-related incidents and was most recently in the headlines when he was accused of kissing and then biting a man in a Kings Cross nightclub.

You're the one getting things wrong....

On the "beating someone up" issue. He did not beat anyone up. HE GOT BEAT UP. He was smashed in the nose. He didn't throw a single punch. HE was the victim. The police were involved in this incident and found that Craig did nothing wrong. He was a victim of his own fame.

The only real incident was with Wayne Pearces daughter... and that is an alleged incident. Other then those who were present, nobody knows the story except for what the media made up... and since the police were never involved... one can only assume, the media were blowing another story up. Just as the always do.

Either way, you judging a football player on incidents you know nothing about other then what the media claim... is just ridiculous. As an NRL player, he was great for his club, state and country for a number of years. He also showed extreme courage and strength to play with some of the injuries he has had over the years. Most people who have met him, thought he was a great bloke. Yet you're judging him on what the media say.
