Now our squad you would imagine would look something like in no particular order.

wesser,lewis,gordon, either moke or younquest rooney, firman,gower,clinton,priddis,tony p,frank pritchard,waterhouse,rodney.

Then on the bech frank.p,matt cross, either ate's or wallace, bell or norrie.

That in my opinion will be our strongest squad to start before we bring in the young blokes like daniella etc.

That line up is perhaps one of our strongest in numerous yr's granted the only real change to that is firman and moke instead of our fave son presto and galea.

But it's a squad that is already on the brink of the top 8, we just need to muscle up and then make the dive.

Panther's premiers in 07.

Yes I agree this presents as close to the strongest squad available at this time.

Now lets say we have to find some vacancies to give a few young ones some 'air time' in firsts. I'll split your side into four groups. Must play, should play, at risk and very at risk.

OK,

Wesser: Should play
Lewis: Very at risk
Gorden: At risk
Moke: Very at risk
Youngquest: Very at risk
Rooney: Very at risk
Firman Very at risk
Gower: Must play
Clinton: At risk
Priddis: Must play
Tony P: Should play
Pritchard: Very at risk
Waterhouse: At risk
Rodney: Very at risk

None of the bench get a full grading. They are not run-on, so they are all very at risk, although the scholars amongst us will say they are integral to the team and its performance. Thats quite right, but for the exercise, I'll leave them out.

So with the exception of Gowie and Priddis I see the door ajar at varying distances for the other players.

If Peanuts Pritchard fails to fire after 5 rounds, tear up his lucrative contract. Its been OK to dump Craig Trindall after a couple of rough games, Pritchard hasnt played three decent games in a row since he was signed. He can join the Titans whom given recent developments, will be lucky to field anyone they have actually signed.

Firman hasnt proven himself in this side either. I like him, but thats not enough, he's still a stranger till I see him make that backline sing.

And there were games in the past when Rooney took high command from the distant grass of the lonely wing.

A staggering influence on the match. He needs ball. Precious sweet ball and plenty of air. No more watching the backs trip over and fumble.

And yes, bring it on!

A good assessment Dave, with 2 exceptions IMO. Why you put Gordon in the "at risk" category is totally beyond me. He was one of our most consistent performers last year, and should be in the "must play" category. Shane Rodney was one of our best players when fit last season, so I disagree with his rating as well. And I would take you to task over your opinion of Frank Pritchard, but I am extremely biased in this area as he is one of my favourite players, and can be one of the most damaging ball-runners in the game on his day. No coach is going to drop that sort of player. Other than that, for a change I feel you are very close to the mark.

Didn't Craig trindall break the law with a drug charge??? I'd say that's why he was dropped like a bad habit...he's probably lucky to have a contract...

OK, I did struggle a bit with Gordon, I'll compromise and upgrade him to "should play" but I cant rate him at Gowie or Priddo status. Sorry, I just cant do it!

Frank, well truth been known, no consistency. Some people have said its a lot worse.

Devastating at full flight, absolutely. In top gear, one of the best in the league.

Maybe I was a bit tough to single him out. He's not alone out there anyway.

Thank you for your comments. You got a result!!

Oh well if you've forgiven him then he should be named in the top 25....:sarcasm:

Well if you call that balanced then you are as bad as him. Big whoop if he has forgiven Craig, it doesn't make any diffence unless he is Matt Elliott in disguise or any of the Panthers management who's decision it is as to whether he plays or not....

Thats correct.

Probably very unhappy as illustrated by abusive posts.

Needs to find a remedy.

I sure will...what Craig Trindall did was proven, what Craig Gower did was NEVER proven...and besides, would my forgivness really count...I don't think so..

Just because charges arent laid or proven doesnt mean the conduct didnt happen.

For example how many women are sexually assaulted and dont report it? Quite a few I imagine. There are stats on these things.

There were plenty of people who gave gave quite horrific accounts of Craig's Gower's conduct over several hours. I dont have to repeat them here.

In my world, Craig Trindall's offences were of a far far less serious nature.

It was a silly mistake that thousands of Australian's have made and probably thousands continue to make on a daily basis.

He's well and truly got through it, and as far as I am concerned, that chapter in his life is closed shut. It is for me and my panther mates at the club and those in the football media.

As much as Gower, if not more, he deserves to be regarded and considered as a footballer.

If I had to choose either to have a beer with, I'd choose Trindall and I would do so without any hesitation.

Were these accounts from people that were actually there??? Everyone seems to forget that Craig was NOT given the chance to put his side of the story forward, I wonder why...was it because it wasn't as bad as everyone made out...was it because there was major fault on both sides....gee, well I guess you guys will never know but I do and because I can't link a face to face conversation with someone EXTREMEMLY close to the source onto this site I can't tell you anymore...

This is the thing that really pi$$es me off, people believe everything they read. My nephew had a car accident in 2004, the passenger in the car, his ex girlfriend was injured and even though they had broken up my nephew sat by her bed almost 24/7, he almost lost his job by doing this....one thing my nephew was unaware of was that she was pregnant and she wasn't even sure who the father was, but because her pelvis was injured her doctors told her she would not be able to deliver naturally so she begged my nephew to take her to have it terminated...when the case went to court the head lines read "Car Accident Forces Girl To Have An Abortion." Newspaper reports also said she would never conceive again, she had a baby in Nov 2005. Admittitedly if I had read that I would have felt sorry for the girl but my nephew was crucified. There was no mention that she woke him up twice after midnight to ask for a lift, it was a 40 min trip there and another 40 mins back. Nothing was ever said that drugs or alcohol were involved, they weren't but people just assumed they were..he was sent ot prison for 3 months, minimum, if he had misbehaved it would have been 3 years. He also lost his licence for 4 years...he just turned 28 and he missed my mum's funeral because he was in prison, he also has to rebuild his life now that he has a criminal record....

Why did I post this, I hear you ask, you don't care about any of this....the reason is the media won't sell their publications with anything less than a sensational story, no matter who suffers for it, as long as it's not them..

So our club managment holds a investigation sends a offical up there then makes up accusations against gower of course nothing happened. My point isnt if gower should be forgiven he should be captain of penrith .My point is the hatred of trindall if he went to court for what he did he would be lucky to get a fine. If trindall is not selected because of that then we are in trouble . Elliott will pick who he thinks fits his way of playing regardless of past mistakes

Gowers alledged golf misdemeanour isnt the first time, there was an incident involving an irish backpacker in a pub in sydney,so he isnt exactly a cleanskin for those with blinkers..

Ok first of all, did I say nothing happened??? Re read my post.

Second, for gods sake that was how many years ago and it's also not Tridalls first offense...and last time I checked, drug use, even cannabis, is illegal...

Yes,so both players have dodgy pasts..yet one player is put on a pedestal and the other is shot down (not just on this site, either)

Gowie got drunk and lost his head and said he couldnt remember things, thats pretty bloody dangerous in my book. All kinds of mischief can occur.

I dont care if youre Fred Smith, Dawn Fraser (grr) or Mother Teresa. If youre lagered up to the extent that he was, and doing things that he was reportedly doing, well I dont be anywhere near you. You might expect that from a 15 year old minor but not an adult and certainly not a role model.

And dont use "I dont remember" as an excuse. That doesnt wash.

And tonight I rang up one of my club mate's who has spent some time with Gowie (and is a big massive fan of his) and he said he would down one or two with him but he wouldnt kick on with him into the city after closing. I didnt ask why, I left it at that.

He said he'd be right with Trindall but maybe not his cousin Tricky (whom he's met too).

And I'll tell you one thing about Tricky Trindall, he wasnt a huge bloke, but he was bravest footballer I have ever seen. I'll save that story for another time.

But no lame dumping on Craig Trindall, not on my watch.

He just might be the player that saves 2007 for you. Not to be underestimated. If an unfashionable Stapo can show up the big represntative names of the Panthers so too can Craig Trindall. Probably with less effort too.

Elliot will regret the day he gave Trindall a number greater than 25. And knowing of Elliot, he probably wouldnt mind if that happened either!
