I am totally over the NRL - if they want to claim they have stood him down due to their No Fault policy, then they should explain why they chose to use their discretion in this case and not others.

Maybe its a back room decision negotiated by our Eels and the NRL to protect Parra from being the bad guy and standing him down. Could be our club wants DB to learn a lesson. Everything is not always as it appears. Ive been involved in plenty of similar employment negotiations. We will probably never know.

Otherwise the cowboys would have fought luciano who missed 11 games and had his charges dropped.

I think the Dragons spent 2 years carrying the can for JDB otherwise they would have challenged it.

Though didn't JDB try to fight the policy in court and NRL won.

I suspect the NRL gets around all this stand down stuff because the players continue to be fully paid. Essentially, they're incurring no personal loss as a result of the stand down. The NRL essentially owns the rights for all clubs and just gives them a licence to use it, so they probably can't ark up too much.

Great. So the player who has supposedly done the wrong thing just gets a paid holiday whilst the club he plays for has to cop his salary cap hit and the fans get screwed over.

I'm just venting at the moment. This has been an absolute shit fight leading up to an important game (in my eyes anyway) and there are just so many people to be pissed off at, with Brown and Abdo leading the way.

I gave up on the season after round 1 so I'm pretty relaxed and well chilled over it all now.

I don't think anyone could've predicted individual things happening, but it just seemed like "one of those seasons" the moment Matterson kept $4k in his pocked, then Lane going down in the trials.

Nothing would surprise me happening for the rest of the year to be honest.

What happened with Matterson was completely unavoidable also, but things like this tend to have a habit of not being isolated incidents when it is just not your season.
