Sensed a vibe of annoyance/accountability with DB coming from team mates at todays training videos. Basically all said hes young and is still learning. My interpretation obviously.

I'm sure they would be annoyed with him, especially if they all made a pact not to go out and drink over the bye.
BA would be pretty cranky as well, even more than usual. This is a big week for him, he breaks the record for most games coached at the Eels.

so the George Burgess rule only applies to George Burgess and Souffs

the NRL are so easily manipulated
I think he was at the Dragons...I don't think he played again. I suspect there was no need for a stand down.

As far as I'm aware there has never been an official stand down for The Plane, but it's not like he was going to be playing either.

NRL didnt stand him down though Burgess even with a current NRL contract.

Plane didn't have a contract with the NRL so no need for stand down as they would not have allowed for him to sign with a club.

Yes, what I'm saying I suspect the Dragons said there will be no need to stand Burgess down as he won't be playing and won't be around for long.

That shouldn't matter. He was a contracted NRL player who was charged with a sexual crime. The NRL said that he is free to play until the results of the court case are known and will make their decision when that happens.

They can't say that unless they mean it to be true, even if the Dragons give them a whisper in their ear about him not getting a game anyway.

The matter still hasnt been decided. If he had been stood down, it's likely he would be still on the Dragons books getting paid and not playing. Now he is doing neither.

Why would he still be on the Dragons' books if he was stood down?

Because he had a contract?

He can still be released from that contract whilst being stood down. He asked for the release.

I can't see the NRL making a statement about letting him play and waiting for the court case to be finished if they had no intention of doing so just because the Dragons asked them to let him off so that they can get rid of him.

Hmm. Was surprised at the stand down after reading the coverage earlier in the day outside court.

I guess the stand down comes down to Dylan fighting it (and all power too him if he believes he's not guilty/there's not eenough evidence), and because the charges relate to conduct of that intimate nature. With their responsibility for "the product" then I guess I can't blame the NRL for invoking the stand down, as things are sadly all about optics and media pressure etc.

But questions for the NRL remain around the inconsistency of how this stand down appears to be applied/not applied/challenged/waived... and also the likely severity of any court penalty for Dylan if found guilty of what (from reports) seems to relate to five counts of the two handed bike horn behaviour within a two minute timeframe. It just doesn't seem like this behaviour would be at the jail sentence end of the sexual touching charge penalty to me?
