Could anyone explain the benefits of these new consoles other than just updated graphics? All the games look just the same, same gameplay, same controls etc. The big changes seem to be more in non-gaming features. So from a purely gaming perspective, what justifies spending so much money on these consoles? So far the best future games I've seen are still on PS3 or X360. I haven't seen any games that look good enough to justify buying these new consoles.
At least Wii and Wii U have tried to be innovative with gaming. I think I'd stick with my 360 and get a new Wii U and PC. Much better exclusives in my opinion. I'd have more fun with Mario Kart and Smash Bros than playing with a dog in Call of Duty.
What do you expect? Another gimmicky device to say it's revolutionising gameplay?
The obvious advantages of a new console are graphics, but the pure processing power is about 8-10 times the current generation, and and about 5-6 times that of the wii-u. This doesn't just enable better graphics, it allows for much better AI once developers take advantage of it. Ignoring graphics one only has to look at the difference in complexity between ps2 and xbox games, and the current gen. The experiences are much bigger and deeper than one you got over 10 years ago.
If you don't care about what GPU they've slapped on them, you should care about the increase in RAM.
I much prefer the look of the xbox one, albeit it's a little big, but it would fit perfectly into an entertainment setup and you'd barely notice it was there. That's a pretty intelligent design decision, it's a shame that they had to go and screw it up with this DRM garbage... Because the new controller looks amazing, the launch catalog looks amazing, and its general software feature set exceeds that of the PS4...
PS4 is growing on me day by day in terms of its design. Its definitely a homage to PS2I honestly think the Xbox One looks too much like a VCR; even the size is right! I definitely find the PS4 to be the better looking, more modern console. Both aren't that great looking though, but the PS4 will certainly be much easier for people to manage - and thus appeal more to those looking for high tech stuff. Funny isn't it that it is both cheaper and has the superior tech.....
Also, anyone think the PS4 looks like a slanted modern re-envisioning of the PS2? Very tasteful by Sony.
Sony trolled Microsoft hard, but Microsoft trolled themselves better than anyone else. It is nice to see that everyone is jumping on the PS4 though.
There are some N64 games I've played that have a better experience than the more 'complex' games of the 360.
Watch Dogs and BF4 are really the only amazing games for when the consoles launch. People would save a bit of money by waiting until the start of 2014 when a heap of the top games come out. Personally though, I can't wait that long to buy mine lol.
Ocarina of Time is quite simply the best game ever made, and no console has so far been able to match what Nintendo accomplished with that gem**
**the above is my opinion, and I don't care if you agree or not.
It's $548 at JB, if you care about saving $2 go there.
