So, you have to pay the full $548 up front?

Be easier to just save some cash on the side and just buy it at launch if they're doing that.

I heard that Sony plans to integrate PS3 games through streaming, if that means I can play Heavy Rain and The Last of Us on the PS4, then I'll most likely get that.

Haha check this out from Square Enix. It's a vampire hunter style game for ios called Bloodmasque, and it puts you into the game similar to EA's gameface for their most recent titles, but I reckon it looks more polished than EA's version

That's exactly why I'm not buying a PS4 immediately. My PS3 doesn't work and I have these cool PS3 games I can't play.

Does anyone think I'd receive the PS4/Xbox One on launch day if I pre-ordered online through JB or EB?

I would just do it at a store if I didn't live so far away.

EB generally send it in time so that you get the delivery on release day, if you're really luck you could even get it a day early.

JB Hifi send there's a day before release, and usually arrive a day late.

Thanks, I'll go with EB then and pay the extra $1! I've nearly always got games from them on the release date and once a day before (i think it was Fifa 13). I just thought consoles may come a bit later due to high demand.

They'll probably have a midnight launch if you can't make it during the day, unless you live bush or something you should still receive it on the day by post.

I live nearly a few hours away from EB, so I'm not sure if I can be there on the day/night. I am in a smallish town but shipping time is usually pretty good.

My 5:

Watch Dogs
Battlefield 4
Last of Us (PS3 only)
GTA 5 (PS3 only)
Destiny

That's just my opinion it's still really hard to say just from seeing some trailers. There are a heap of others that looked great such as Infamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, The Division, The Order, etc.

Purely based on what I want for next-gen:

Watch Dogs
Destiny
The Division
InFamous: Second Son
Star Wars Battlefront 3 (Could be a while off, but I'm mad hyped for it)

Nothing really stood out to me as far as exclusives go, except for InFamous and Halo. The others that were shown were either new ips, and I really couldn't gather much from what was shown, or were sequels to games I haven't played or didn't like.

GTA V will be my last current gen game.

Ok so I just looked up some more stuff from E3, and apparently there is some feature in Dead Rising 3 where you tap your smartphone to call in an airstrike. And then there's some other bullshit where in Forza there's a Drivatar that drives while you're not playing. Is anyone actually exited for features like this?

Anyway, upcoming games I'm excited for include:
Last of Us
Deadpool
Arkham Origins
Lego Marvel
South Park
The Walking Dead Season Two
Mad Max

None are next gen exclusive though. I haven't seen anything worth buying the PS4 or XBO yet. Although it might be worth getting the Wii U for new Smash Bros, Zelda and Mario Kart.

I disagree fully. For example I thought Halo 4 was the worst Halo game yet. I don't see how the experiences are deeper at all. There are some N64 games I've played that have a better experience than the more 'complex' games of the 360.

I found a big difference between the xbox and the 360 but the xbox one looks pointless. Honestly how it looks and how the controller looks are superficial features. I'm more excited by the looks of the remaining PS3 and 360 games to be released this year than the new console games.

Plus no backwards compatibility on either console is a big let down. If the PS4 had it I would get one on launch as then I could catch up on the best PS3 exclusives.

If you're looking at halo games for proof of in depth experiences, then you are looking in the wrong places.

Do you think the level of detail and storyline of say mass effect was possible on the first xbox?

As for controllers being superficial, I couldn't disagree more, it's a big part of how you feel connected with a game, and a large reason why I never really played my PS3 as I found the controller way too loose and ergonomically poor. The new one looks like it's made some great steps forward and the new xbox one with variable trigger resistance and improved vibration feedback looks incredible.

As for backwards compatibility, I don't get why people really care about that stuff, the good games will eventually come out as an upscaled remake, or you can plug in your old console if you really want to. Given the massive differences in architecture from their predecessors, I'd rather they focus on building the best console they can instead of adding additional cost in providing backwards compatibility. This is a new demand, the super nintendo wasn't compatible with the NES, so I don't know why people expect it now.

The playstation especially would have virtually no chance of doing it moving from a cell processor to an x86 APU. They're virtually polar opposites of CPU architecture.
