Should they build a new stadium from scratch? Should it be on the waterfront? When the sea levels rise will it float away?

patrons will be given inflatable life vests as part of the admission.
Australians will be asked to bring their blow-up sheep.

Waterfront for me.
Eden Park should be a cricket pitch and a decent place to hold the Big Day Out.

The waterfront design is amazing.

If they've got it right internally, go for it! Damn the expense!

Bulldoze Eden Park.
Shocking location in the most conjested resedential part of Auckland City & turn North Harbour stadium into a decent cricket venue.
A waterfront venue has done wonders for Wellington, it'll be a far better venue to get to.

Waterfront, Wellington got it right. Scale Eden Park down for cricket or sell it off to raise the funds if necessary. Mt Smart's great for the Big Day Out though.

Eden Park would never be able to host the Big Day Out, not in a residential area. I could just imagine the constant bitching about it.
I moved from Penrose to the beautiful Hawke's Bay about 3 months ago, whens the new indoor arena opening?

Global warming is a serious matter OB :sarcasm: . I think they should have lifeboats suspended round the new stadium. Lets not forget those reports of icebergs approaching NZ. It could be the Titanic all over again.

Lol have they installed the lifeboats at Telstra yet? Lat time I checked it was pretty close to Homebush bay....

Seriously what the hell are Auckland city councillors playing at? Now half of them are promoting Carlaw Park as an option... ffs it's too small, the location isn't as good as the waterfront and it's already been earmarked for other development... just build the bloody waterfront stadium now!! On the plus side it looks like Eden Park is on the outer, good riddance to an ordinary stadium.

The Carlaw Park councilors are embarassing themselves. You can't fit a stadium on that site.

Also, its been sold off. DO YOUR BLOODY HOMEWORK!

The proposed stadium looks great. Plus you'd have the option of ferrying people to it to ease congestion.

Yet some softcock councillors want some "low impact" option "nested into the domain". FFS they have a chance to build a landmark stadium that will have a chanceto become an international icon for NZ Rugby and they're trying to go for an upgraded suburban park!!

I can't help but notice that the Herald has jumped on the anti-stadium bandwagon.
