From memory in some reports eels were just going to play for no points and not release peats. But the NRL said no you HAVE to shed players. So technically no choice.

Which reports were these? This requirement wasn't included in the preliminary sanctions outlined on the NRL website, it just states that we couldn't accrue points until we became cap compliant.

I don't think he would have antagonised the NRL by wilfully remaining over the cap. That's an attitude more suited to petulant fans (including myself) than to the leader of an NRL club.

Because the NRL want us to be a #powerhouse no doubt.

Cheers for the article. I hadn't seen this but there's nothing from the NRL that actually suggests they were going to prevent us from playing if we didn't become cap compliant. It is just speculation from a journo who decided to interpret a quote from an unnamed NRL spokesperson that way.

To be fair imagine if the NRL announced that. The handling of the situation by the NRL had been appalling to begin with.

Either way now it's no use crying over it. We now have guys that want to be here now and it's time to get behind them 110% along with BA. He's the right man for the job. Just hope we do get a hooker and we aren't stuck with IDG. Would Rein be worth a look at for 2 years? Showed good form last season particularly in attack.

No arguments here. I'm pro-BA, even if I don't agree with all of his decisions, and yes we certainly need a hooker. I'd probably prefer Baptiste, I think he's a very good player.

Like all great coaches, it is all about the players. After watching the interview it made me think that only a complete merkin wouldn't want to play for him.

No Sources, or details but I thought that Brad was referring to the Paulo deal, that if the club had known the Raiders had space for him, that he could have gone a few weeks earlier than he did after Corey's meal and drugs night with a few well known people of interest. That would have allowed us to play for points and keep Peats. But I guess no one will know unless we get Sterlo to drill in again on that question.

In other news, Very happy to have this man as coach, to have him extend, and with the way the interview went, considering it is a hostile network if a friendly show.
