they would have stepped in and released players
that's what they said
You got a source for that? And then who pays the players contract when the nrl 'release' them from it?

That's pretty conclusive evidence. I stand corrected. Did you learn your research and investigative skills at law.com?it was posted here ages ago
f**ked if i knowYou got a source for that? And then who pays the players contract when the nrl 'release' them from it?
they didThey never said that at all. Eldiablo is just far too into his Greenberg / grant conspiracies that he's making things up now.
f**ked if i know
but there was a deadline and there was a lot of talk here about it being unfair because Melbourne didn't have to do it
the search here doesn't work fully atm and can't go past the upgrade
noSo basically you have no idea. The Melbourne discussion came about because they were able to renegotiate contracts and we weren't. But thanks for entering into the discussion with your pearls of wisdom. Perhaps stick to chasing Jake around the forum and wishing chronic disease on your fellow human.
they did
we had no choice
no
we had to shed $570,000 worth of players this season by a certain date
there was not...OR WE WOULD NOT BE PLAYING FOR COMPETITION POINTS.
That was most definitely a Choice
there was not
He didn't say that at all.Coaches are fallible and sometimes (however rarely), the common fan knows best. There were plenty of people suggesting we keep the team together and forego the points, as this would benefit the team more in the long term. Turns out BA now agrees.
So do you honestly think he would have released Peats if he was confident we'd lose the following two games and be out of finals contention, irrespective of other player movements? His response tonight indicates he would have preferred Peats in the team.He didn't say that at all.
It also makes next year's cap position quite different, so he might have re-signed Peats if he'd known Foran wouldn't be here.He specifically referred to the fact other merkins have departed .... and said we did what we had to at the time .... i dont think he regretssplitting the team up so much as we have lost a few since kinda making it unnecessary to lose a strong player
“Looking back how things have panned out now and some other players have moved on, it’s a really big mistake I suppose, him not being at our club but at the end of the day it was what was needed at the time.
“No one could foresee the future. He looks like he’s happy and playing some good football. That’s the more important thing than my needs, it’s what he needs.”
I don't think he would have antagonised the NRL by wilfully remaining over the cap. That's an attitude more suited to petulant fans (including myself) than to the leader of an NRL club.So do you honestly think he would have released Peats if he was confident we'd lose the following two games and be out of finals contention, irrespective of other player movements? His response tonight indicates he would have preferred Peats in the team.
You have to admire BA's optimism and positivity that we were going to go an 09 run and make the finals, but it was his downfall on this occasion.
That quote seems to imply Peats wasn't a happy camper...
And didn't we give Peats a car and have to take it back off him, about a year before the salary cap shenanigans story broke? That couldn't have been good for his morale...
