The stupidity of not pulling any players from reserve grade, especially in spine positions, is mind-boggling to me.

The roosters did the right thing removing their NRL squad players from the Bears nsw cup team, we didnt, and we benefited by destroying them on Friday night.

If we turn around and request and are granted some sort of exemption, it flies in the face of what was a direct request or advice given by the nrl, and the Bears/Roosters have every right to be aggrieved if we got to have our cake and eat it too.

IMO if it was the other way around we'd all be saying "suck s**t you should have followed the directive".

I think BA will do what BA does however and choose Matterson at 5/8. Waqa in for Marata and Brown returning. Rheed is the problem but our stringent determination to protect concussed players such at Matto (twice) won't apply to Rheed. Nothing surer.

Either:

• Loan from another NRL club
• QLD Cup player
• Former NRL hookers currently living in QLD

Options I can see at moment:
Gutho at hooker in attack and Cartwright basically plays the fullback role. Switching in defence.
Cartwright plays the hooker role himself.
Nrown.
Hipgrave.
Opacic (but plays wider in defence) with Fergo to centre/Dunster to wing.
And all of this is under assumption that Waqa and Nrown at least are available

That said I also don’t get the issue. It’s not like the players “in the bubble” have anymore guarantee of virus free compared to the non-bubbles. Sure they’ve been tested and such but they haven’t been in bubble for weeks
