We were very unlucky in 2006. We won 9 in a row and ultimately lost 12-6 to a salary cap cheating Storm because of a dubious decision where Glenn Morrison was disallowed what looked like a try. If we hadn’t clowned earlier in her season we would have finished much higher and gone further in the finals.
We were never a chance of doing anything in 2008 once we lost Tim Smith and introduced new players like Hauraki and Oake who just weren’t very good.
2010 proved that 2009 was a flash in the pan moment and we couldn’t recapture being in that zone. Players like Mortimer, Robson and Keating weren’t very good and regressed to their mean.
2018 was a disgrace and no way was that a wooden spoon roster.
I’m worried about our lack of depth in the backs but our spine and forwards are still amongst the best in the comp going into this season so I’m hopeful we can live up to expectations for once. We haven’t lost any key players like those previous seasons (Maybe Ferguson but he was starting to go downhill in a lot of areas).

That Glenn Morrison no try call haunts me to this day - I thought the rule was that if there was doubt, then the benefit of the doubt went to the attacking team.

They watched the replay a dozen times - a clear sign they were unsure-, and still did not award the try.

What a joke.

I can't recall the no try. I've tried looking for video but no luck.

We haven’t had too much of that in recent years. The Jennings debacle f**ked us in 2020 and losing Mahoney last year was a pisser.
Considering that many thought that we were the better team v Pennys, we were a bee’s dick away with a bit of luck. Well just the ref not calling time off when we were on a roll would have been enough.

Morrison scored in the left corner, but defenders were obstructing the put down.

The video ref looked at the replay a dozen times, and still claimed it was a no try...
Was it also the game where we had a try called back because Inu put a bee’s dick of his boot on the sideline?

^^^ Cayless reckons we need better centres to win the comp.
This is my concern as well. It's probably my only concern.

Has any team won premierships with average centres recently?

Olam and Brenko lee? Solid but not flash?

Waqa was awesome towards the end of last year and Penisini, whilst young, has already shown me enough to indicate he’s at least above average. He will continue to get better this year. Our wingers are more of a concern than centre IMO.

Bloody hell, I just had a look at each team’s expected lineup and most centre pairings look gash. I reckon we have one of the best centre pairings out of this list, and that includes Penrith.

Blow it out your ass Cayless.
